Naturally FSU says Jimbo wants to stay

Amid reports that LSU officials believe top target Jimbo Fisher is very interested in the job, Florida State president John Thrasher believes Fisher wants to stay in Tallahassee.
“Jimbo and I talk frequently and based on that he is happy here and wants to stay,” Thrasher told the Tallahassee Democrat. “He has given me no reason to think differently.”
If Fisher is using the LSU job as leverage in contract negotiations, one of the things he is believed to want is more positions for support staff, like Alabama has with its notorious “shadow coaching staff” of assistants who perform pseudo-coaching duties in non-coaching roles.
Thrasher seems open to working with Fisher, “within reason,” and the two are believed to have a decent relationship.
“If there is something he needs or wants – within reason -- we are open to looking at that,” Thrasher said.
“I think he feels he gets great support from the administration.”

Before all this stuff started last year, I had read several times that Jimbo always said that LSU was his dream job. Of course, a lot has happen since then, with one of them that might come into play being that Jimbo and his wife have divorced and I don't know how that will figure into the equation.

Psssh. Whatever. Thrasher doesn't have any "sources".

Do you have any idea what FSU is willing to pay to keep Fisher? I've seen fans on other boards say FSU is probably not willing to give him a raise.
If they give stupid money like 7 million he can go. Sounds like FSU may step up again as far as staff pay. Also adding more staff.
Sounds like Texas may really have their eye on Jimbo also

I just hope everyone on this board knows how difficult of a coup this really is. The deck is completely stacked against LSU trying to pull this off.
Would be monumental, and great for trolling tho

quote:I just wonder how desperate LSU is and how serious Jimbo is about wanting to leave. It's just two years in a row now Jimbo is doing this. And it's not just small hints. These are HUGE rumors of interest with LSU. I just wonder if he really does want out. I guess we'll see.

He may want the challenge of something new. This also could be used as a way of getting FSU to pony up.
I still wouldn't be surprised if he left, but I'm starting to think he may stay.

I don't think Fisher has ever had any intention of taking the LSU job, both this year or last.
I think he's doing what any coach who is coveted by other programs should do, use the interest of the other school as leverage to get extra pieces, in this case a larger army of off the field staff.
People dismissing Fisher saying he loves FSU are foolish, that isn't just talk.
I think he stays, the LSU narrative will be the same as last year, that he was all set on coming to LSU, he wanted to badly but some last minute issue prevented it. The reality will be that he used the interest for more things he wants.
We will see.

Correct. He loved it going back to his time playing for Terry

Jimbo could come out and say I'm not leaving FSU, I'll be here at FSU next season, this coaching job stuff is ridiculous.
But he's not.

But he's not.
quote:
“I have an unbelievable tremendous amount of respect for the state of Louisiana, the coaches association and the players,” Fisher said. “There’s just so many fond memories. LSU is a very special place, a very special place for me and my family. It was tremendous to be able to come back.”
