He is driven by his extraordinary ego, and with NY being the media epicenter, and he would crave the publicity frenzy that would be heaved on him in NY. The Giants and the Cowboys are two teams that he would want to coach (maybe a new LA team - Rams), but the room is not big enough for Jerry and Nick. If he doesn't pursue this, then he stays at Bama to close his career.

You should start a partition to make it happen.

My theory...LSU tears will be at an all-time high when Saban doesn't leave yet again.

Not at all.

There is a small fringe element obsessed with him.
There is a small fringe element that think he will leave Alabama.

The place where those 2 elements overlap is even smaller.

you have one thread that's largely met with downvotes and calling him a moron, yet you predict a meltdown coming from the entire fan base when he declines a job that likely won't be offered to him?

Solid prediction dumbass

I thought Saban hated the media. Why would he go to a place where there are reports everywhere and multiple newspapers looking for quotes and stories?

If he were to go anywhere (college or NFL) I would think he would look for a place where the media crush and the fan zealousness are lower. Let him do his job and not be hounded all the time by the press.

Much like Belichick, the man loathes dealing with the media. Do you really think he would leave Tuscaloosa where the media fears him and treats him like a demigod, to go to New York where absolutely every move he makes will be scrutinized on a national level? I suspect New York would be one the LAST places he would consider going.

Over the last 15 years he's been a coach in Baton Rouge, Miami and Tuscaloosa. BR and Tuscaloosa are small potatoes as far at the media is concerned and they walked/walk on eggshells around him. Miami is pretty much ambivalent to their pro sports team. Now all of a sudden he "craves" public frenzy? Your theory makes no sense.

I would think that ship has sailed. I think he could have done it after the 2009 title saying he learned a lot from his time in Miami but I don't think he has the drive to try to turn an NFL franchise around.

Today's NFL is won by the QB and GM. Saban's brief tenure in Miami showed he was weak at both spots. He wins in college by having un-wavered support from the school, boosters, and conference. He creates an advantage before a down is played. In the NFL, with the salary cap, those advantages are neutralized.

Very spot on. He has the best talent. Can't maintain that in the NFL.
Even if he was able to develop into an NFL coach, at this point he is too old.

if he was to do it this is the time and the job

imo

I don't know if he would or wouldn't

don't care

just saying top notch job with potential to win. If he feels he has something to show in NFL needs to do it soon.

Saban is retiring from Alabama...he tasted the NFL and didn't like it. Plus he probably watched the Steelers/Bengals game to confirm his feelings...

I don't have a clue as to whether wants another shot at the NFL or not, but if he does, I believe the Giants is one of those he takes a real look at.

They don't have a lot to do to reach the playoffs next year, and have the cap space to accomplish it. They have been pretty quiet on the search, so my feeling is their target(s) are still playing football. Yea, I know, that could be a lot of people and I'm not suggesting it's some sort of clue.

I think if Saban does in fact want another shot at the NFL this is one of those really good opportunities. At his age, he's running out of time.

Here is why Saban can take another chance at the NFL. If he fails again in the NFL, he could waltz into any major college program again, and he would still be paid top money and receive full control of the system.

Saban is not cut out for the NY media. Not to mention not cut out for the NFL as a whole.
