First, we all know Kiffin is a great offensive mind....well, most of us. But, my problem/fear is his past relationships with O. The toxic environment that became Tenn football was guided by Kiffin with O as a minion. I am afraid that Kiffin coming aboard would skew O's decision-making ability in regards to things Lane was angling on. Saban has him bottled up........with O, shite would likely get squirrelly and fast.

That said, I'd like to see one of the other offensive minds come in......I'm not particular as long as it's not Big Briles.

I hear your concern. my hope is that both have learned and matured. O from ole miss and kiffin when he was an unapologetic douche. I think both got a taste of humility from past experiences.

Kiffin is still a douche. Great play caller, but douche. We can find a good OC that doesn't suck so hard.

Because Kiffin was the "head coach" and O was his minion. The roles are reversed now, so your argument may not hold up. There are better reasons not to hire Lane that this point.

Disclaimer:
I think Kiffin is a scumbag, first of all. So the following is just my perspective and is no way saying that I want Kiffin in BR except for an away game.

My synopsis:
I do not think O would throw his last chance (if he fails) at a P5 job for his "loyalty" to Lane. And Lane as well would use this as an audition to show universities that he has truly changed (or at least fake it). Most potential employers may be hesitant since he has been under Saban who controls him. This opportunity if hired would show them that he can be successful and humble without Saban's wrath as a control factor. And if you can turn LSU around offensively, you will be a wanted man at the next level. So it hink it would be more professional than you think.

Sure wish we'd stop having to rely on hope when it comes to this football program... With all that there is to worry about, why risk having to rely on hope when you make this kind of hire?

I think Saban is an introvert who is often misjudged as being a douche. The other two? Sure.

If you think O values his friendship with Kiffin more than his last chance at a high-paying HC gig, you are crazy.

I am against hiring a personal friend in a key role. I offer cam Cameron as proof.

PLUS, I do not trust Lane Kiffin at all. I think he would try to control coach O. we have too many other targets and do not need the potential conflict that you describe.

The bigger problem is Orgeron has always worked for Kiffin.
Not sure Kiffin would listen to O much just out of pride.

I don't believe that for a second. It's the nature of the biz. And 2m a year will help that issue. O would give lane the keys and let him have control of the offense. I see no problem if he comes as far as that is concerned. Now I do worry about how diciplined the team will be under O and lane.

Gimme Kiffin all day. Today on Wjox in Bham, Jay Barker actually said that if Kiffin goes to LSU, it will hurt is future ability to get a HC job because AD's around the country will look at his decision to go to LSU as delusional and calls into question Kiifin's ability to make sound decisions. His premise is that you'd have to be insane to leave daddy Nick. Gumps don't understand that some people just don't like working for Saban.
