Yeah, he's not a sexy pick, but he ticks a lot of boxes.
LINK

He is a Southern guy, the son of a coach and knows the landscape, has SEC assistant coaching experience (Georgia and Ole Miss) he took a truly bad program (San Jose State) and turned them into a ten game winner and now he has resurrected the Colorado program (3-1, just beat Oregon on the road, hung tight with Michigan). He comes from a defensive background but runs a pass-friendly offense at CU.

What he is doing at Colorado is impressive. Talk about being behind the eight ball. This guy gets no administrative support, has all kind of limitations placed on him concerning facilities and recruiting, and still has Colorado playing very respectable football. He has turned recruiting back on which is a near-miracle and has fans in the seats again. He took over a program that possibly the worst power five program.

I'm on the Tom Herman train. Just saying Coach McIntyre is worthy of consideration. Could be a diamond in the rough.

He runs a very innovative offense, he recruits well and he knows how to win.

A good possibility. I would think he is definitely worthy of an interview.

100% agree that he deserves consideration and subsequently a bump in pay from his current employer... But that will be the extent of it

His son is just a sophomore, he won't leave his son at Colorado

In our company we use the phrase "right seat right bus" from the Jim Collins book Good to Great.

Louisiana is full of 6'4" fast receivers and other offensive weapons. Why don't we find a coach that fits our states DNA?

The Colorado coach is worthy of an interview. He was beating Michigan handily through the first half with zero talent.

I agree, definitely deserves to be in the "B" list with Fedora and others.

I agree. This guy is going to be at a major PW5 school in a couple of years. I would hire McIntyre before Fedora. He has ties to the SEC as well.

He would probably be an easy hire.

That's all I'm saying. Go for the home run hire the fan base is screaming for but cover all your bases and build relationships for down the road. McIntyre is a winner ,he has a worthy resume, he's just under the radar. You never know who is going to be the next great coach.

He got my attention when they hammered CSU in the opener. CSU has been much better than CU, which is a shame, for a while now. But, keep in mind this is his 4th year at CU and the first one that they've showed competitiveness.

He's also a defensive minded coach. I have a feeling LSU will target only offensive minded coaches, for obvious reasons.

McIntyre so far at CU:

2013 Colorado 4–8 1–8 6th (South)
2014 Colorado 2–10 0–9 6th (South)
2015 Colorado 4–9 1–8 6th (South)
2016 Colorado 3–1 1–0 (South)

He's a great coach, very deserving of a big time job, but he's probably not in the top 5 on the list. Right or wrong, he won't be the guy unless we have a lot of people turning the jerb down.

If you can win at CU just think what you could do at LSU.

This is a good audition year for him. We'll see. He did do a great job at SJSU, which got him the CU job, but obviously LSU would have to lose out on some big names to look at him.

He also fits that mold of the last 2 (actually 3) hires LSU has made: Hire a coach from a Power 5 (but not elite) school who is showing the right trajectory:

DiNardo - Vandy
Saban - Mich State
Miles - Okie State
