From the start the man should have magically sprouted a set and told Texas to kiss his arse. Why would he want to hang around when it is obvious that he is not wanted? Especially when he can walk away with a pile of money.

Is it because he knows, as does everyone else, that this is the end of the line for him? Even should he stay no clear-headed prospect will sign with Texas knowing that the next year could be Brown's last.

The longer this drags on the more I am convinced that Saban is headed to Austin.

Mack being gone and Saban to texas are not necessarily tied together.

Mack is almost certainly gone.

Mack wanted to handle his exit on his own terms. He feels slighted by the way UT has handled the situation.

I agree, Mack was getting pushed out no matter what. The fact he could have won the BIG 12 makes it harder. Saban in the mix is just frosting on the cake.

Yeah, but had his name not been Mack Brown he would've been fired a year or two ago. Texas has been somewhat patient with him hoping he would step down but Browns ego just won't let him see that the game is starting to pass him by. If Texas didn't push him out he wouldn't leave on his own for quite a few more years IMO.

Some B1G school will hire him. He'd fit in great there.

What will be hilarious is if UT ends up making a Sark level hire because every dream coach on the list decides they don't want to risk being fired after almost winning the conference. That, or if Saban goes and then retires after two 8-9 win rebuilding years because of the constant nagging from boosters and LHN obligations.

Mack is gonna get paid to kiss babies in the AD somewhere. He is also gonna waltz into a corso-ish analyst position wiht ESPN. Dude is done coaching. Hell, he's been done coaching several years.

They shouldn't have signed him to a contract through 2020 and then expect him to leave with 6 years still remaining.

Yep, two years from now Mack will be writing letters to the BOT thanking them for pulling the trigger and improving his quality of life by a factor of ten.

Joel Schad on Sports Center a few minutes ago said he expects this situation with Mack Brown not to go on much longer. Said the BOR would like it to be before the Football Banquet so they could make it a celebration of Mack's time at Texas. Believe he said the banquet is tomorrow night.
