Michigan keeps looking for coaches at the exact wrong time for Miles. Les is staying in Baton Rouge because the team is stacked for next year. Just like it was supposed to be stacked going into 2008 with Perriloux playing QB, and was in fact stacked going into 2011.

Miles has plenty of money. He has had the opportunity to coach Michigan before. With the rate that Michigan goes through coaches, he may still have the opportunity to coach Michigan in the future. Next year at LSU maybe Miles' best shot a getting a second National Championship. That's why he coaches. That's what he wants. That's why he isn't leaving LSU for Michigan.

Or 2016 when Fournette and company are Jr's.

I love how so many people think they knew exactly went on when Michigan's plane was here for 3 days.

This. Depending on underclassmen leaving next year, 2016 could (or should) be one of those great years

I actually completely disagree and think it's the absolute perfect time for Miles...

I fully believe he was gone in 2007 and something changed then we moved up in the MNC and he decided to stay.

Say what you will about herbstreet but he wouldn't have gone with that if it wasn't true

Wasn't the "official" story that he was advising them on their search, but not actually a candidate himself?

I know, I know coach speak..."I will not be the next coach at Alabama." "Brandon Harris will see meaningful snaps this week." etc, etc.

The defense will be great next year, but I don't think the offense will improve enough to contend for the sec. Unless miles just changes his philosophy to a uptempo aggressive spread run first attack similar to AU.

I think now is the time to go if miles ever had a notion of going back to his alma mater. It's now or never.

Yeah, good luck with that.

I can agree with the "bad timing" observation, but I don't think 2007 was bad timing because of what was expected out of the 2008 team. LSU was losing a ton from the 2007 team that competed for(and eventually won) the NC. The bad timing was what happened late in the 2007 season

I fully believe that Herbstreit wasn't that far off base in Dec. 2007 when he declared Miles to Michigan. The problem was that everything broke as Miles was about to lead his team into the SECCG. Obviously you could tell in his now famous presser that he was aggravated about the Michigan talk. We all know what happened next. The stars aligned allowing LSU to play for the NC. Miles couldn't leave while preparing for what would be the biggest game in his coaching career. The timing from the SECCG on just wasn't there.

He was never offered the job in 2010. If anything, that season scared UM off from considering him with how that season went despite the good record.

Furthermore, their AD Brandon openly did not like Miles at all, and if he wasn't willing to work with him, which he wasn't, then he wasn't getting an offer at all.
