LSU fans: put down for the record who is a good get

And who would be a disappointment.
We all know what happens in coaching searches: after the 7th choice finally says yes, all the fans of the team pretend that he was their first pick all along. Everyone does it.
So if you're honest enough with yourselves, lay out who would be a good hire, and who would be a disappointment before this ball gets rolling. We can bump this in december.

Look at the competition in the SEC West
Saban 65 in 2-3 years Dabo comes in and he's 46
Freeze is 46
Brett is 46
Mullen is 44
Gus is 50
Sumlin is 52
Bobby Petrino is 55
Art Briles is 60
We need younger
Tom Herman is 41
Jimbo Fisher is 50
Lane Kiffin is 41
Kliff Kingsbury is 37
D.J. Durkin is 38
Dave Aranda is 39
This is where LSU should look. Give Coach O a shot first.

This tough because there are some good gets who would still be a disappointment. At the moment anyone not named Herman would be a disappointment IMO, but there are still quite a few options that are more than adequate IMO.

Whittington wouldn't be a bad choice after Herman and Fisher. Fedora is a good coach, but I'm not sure he is a sustainable coach based on The NC job so far this season.

Herman and Fisher are the home runs.
Guys like Fedora would be solid but likely underwhelming.
A wild card is a guy like Klieman. Honestly don't think anyone knows enough to cheer or critique it

Kiffin is the best choice . Best experience . Best pedigree
Herman is one that makes a big splash but has big risk. Not sure his experience proves he can do it.
Fisher would be a yes for me
Briles is too old . If we are gonna go older. I go Petrino
I think Schiano would be a great hire. For the same reason as Kiffin.
The interview would have to convince me that Schiano or Kiffin could change some of what people seem to worry about
Fedora would be acceptable but a fallback from Kiffin or Schiano so not likely to fall that far
Monken would be a no for me.

Honestly? I'm really hoping Coach O pulls it off. Keeps our remaining assistants together, who I think are the cream of the crop, and we end up with a coach who honestly loves this school and state. He will work his arse off for the job and love every minute of it.
If we do end up hiring a new coach, I believe coach O is gone. I wouldn't blame him either. If we have to lose Coach O in order to get someone I'd say he has to be an end all be all helluva home run hire to make up for it.
Give me Coach O (provided he proves himself), and bring in Briles as OC. No one is knocking down his door for his tainted goods after that scandal, so he may take a demotion to get back in it. It's not like we won't pay out the arse for him. We paid out the arse for Cam, with little to no results.

I'm only entertaining Herman at the moment bc that is who I believe we will get.

I don't seem them hiring the wrong guy. I think they either get the 1 or roll with Orgeron. Maybe not if O can't steal a couple of games but I think he will.
