1. He likely will be 6-1 as HC.

Ok great. What coaches WOULD NOT be 6-1 with this loaded roster? Which teams is he beating that he shouldnt beat?

2. He is a great recruiter

So was Les Miles. So is ANY coach that comes here. LSU is now an elite program in a state with 0 other major programs.

3. He's a Louisiana boy!

Who cares? We don't owe him anything... HE DIDNT GRADUATE FROM LSU. Do you think Bama, Ohio State, USC, michigan, etc. hires a coach because he's from the area? This is the dumbest reason to hire a HC

4. He did well at USC!

No he did average at USC considering that roster. They were smart enough not to hire him as HC

The ones you're trying to convince will not be convinced. This topic and this is exact frame of thought have been posted here hundreds of times already.

Not a great example.

That roster was horrible. A probation roster that wasn't close to being loaded. With that said I don't believe he can sustain a program. he comes in, fresh air and all but not sure he's a long term guy but what he did at SC was remarkable considering he had limited numbers to work with.

He likely will go 6-1 and has done a lot to right a ship that seemed to be sinking. But, outside of Arkansas, will any of those wins really be considered quality wins?
Florida is a MASH unit and A&M is without their starting QB, so those SHOULD be wins
But the offensive output, or lack of, against Bama rest on his shoulders. Guice touched the ball twice?
He's done a great job and deserves a bonus and a pat on the back, but not the full time job.
1. Jimbo 2. Herman 3. I'll get back to you

this is true

this is not. You do have to work at recruiting, no program, even LSU "recruits" it self.

That said, recruiting isn't and hasn't been the problem here, it's coaching. Bringing in a DL coach with and awful record as a HC doesn't not appear to address the issue.

You are unfair right there because even the poster in this board (not to mention national experts) said it was extremely difficult to have that record given the schedule ahead of him when he took over.

Les Miles, for one.

Texas and UF learned the hard way that programs do no recruit themselves.

He went 6-2 with a roster depleted after NCAA sanctions. USC wishes they would have hired him. Instead they went with te more polished coach, who turned out to be a raging drunk.

FWIW I want fisher and you hire him 10/10 over Orgeron. But after that, I'd take O. Over a lot of the other candidates being tossed around.

Class recruiting rankings under Lane Kiffin:

2010 - #1
2011 - #4
2012 - #8
2013 - #13

Scholarship reductions were starting to hurt them in 2012, but there was talent on the roster.

That was because most considered the SEC to still be having a average SEC year. This is not the case. The SEC is down. We play a depleted Florida team that shouldnt be in the top 25 and a Texas a&m team without their starting QB

I don't think people who are saying USC was talent depleted followed recruiting. Kiffin may not be a great head coach but he gamed the NCAA sanctions brilliantly.

Nothing

Beating teams you're supposed to destroy isn't impressive. It's what should have been happening for the last decade.
