People keep forgetting or dismissing what Petrino leaves in his wake. What happened when he left Loserville the first time? .500 the next year. Losing season the next. They had to kick a bunch of guys off the team for crap he was letting go. He managed to get Auburn's President and AD fired even though him taking Tubby's job never happened.
I won't even get into the Falcons. His entire time there was an embarrassment. Then, when he was fired at Arkansas, they also immediately fell apart.
Sure, he can coach offense. However, he's never built a program that can last. That's what a great coach does. Also, the trophy case is pretty empty considering all the hype. For all the accolades, he's won a Big East title and a few in C-USA.
This is separate from the mountains of drama and bullshite that everyone knows he brings with him. If he's your coach and your teams is winning, you had better enjoy it while you can.

I could not root for my team if Petrino was the coach. Kiffin may be immature, but I don't think he's a terrible person like Bobby P.

There's still the hope that he has emotionally matured as he's aged, and that he now acts like a "normal" person, who happens to be very smart at his job. If his maturity has caught up with his intellect, he's a home run.
This is NOT the case with Petrino; he's scum.

Kiffin is probably the lesser of the two evils.. Petrino is obviously the better coach.
