My theory has always been that if you have to pay a coordinator this much money, you aren't a good enough head coach.

If your head coach agrees to an actual time table and the other guys knows that then I can see it working. It's when there is a vague set up that it gets hairy.
My guess is if UGA did something like this Richt would know and have agreed to it. Why? Well, everyone knows UGA loves Richt and that of any school that's gonna push their guy out UGA is the least likely to do it.

I think making someone HCIW is fine if the HC and HCIW make the agreement and there is a timetable. Also, it should not be released to the public. Only causes trouble.

The way that FSU did it with Fisher is smart. You will be HC by a certain year or you are owed a payment of a certain amount.

I liked that except it seems Bobby wasn't onboard. You get the coaches to agree and have that in the contract for protection and you are golden

Do what Arizona State did to get around the HCIW recruiting restrictions. The Devils gave Norvell the title Deputy Head Coach.
