So either Bama wins and Kiffin can say they won with my offense and the true freshman I developed.. or Bama loses and Kiffin can say that they lost because he wasn't calling the plays

This can go two ways. Bama wins out and diminishes Lane's contribution or Bama loses and Lane gets to troll Saban that he was a much larger contributor to the teams success than anyone ever gave him credit for. My money is on Saban winning but I would love to see what happens if they dump Lane and lose.

If he's taking a head coaching job, why would he leave so soon? It takes away his negotiating power. Also, Saban wouldn't want him gone if he was taking a job at Houston or somewhere like that.

If he's taking a head coaching job, it makes more sense for him to leave early considering he would be able to use that time to start recruiting at his future destination. Kirby Smart did Saban a solid by sticking around Tuscaloosa last year after he was hired by Georgia, but this did nothing for Georgia.

This is true if he had a head coaching job. He doesn't have one that I am aware of. Leaving before you have one doesn't seem like a good plan. Thus, I think he already has a job -- at LSU.

I don't know, but getting the USC crew back together sure does come with a lot of sleeze. Is that other former compadre of Kiffin and Orgeron, Tosh Lupoi, coming over from Bama as well?

It's possible that schools want to see how he does not being under the watchful eyes of Saban before they take him seriously.
It's also possible that the rumors of why he's out at Bama are being heard and schools are shying away. That's OK, though. We won't judge him. Welcome to LSU.
