So for all our efforts what did Jimbo get out of this or was the whole thing just dropped?

I looked on FSU sites and nothing listed about any specific contract changes...

Did he and Sexton just play us? If so F'em!

The State of Florida barely produced any articles about Jimbo transferring. I feel like the LSU fanbase trolled themselves.

His normal 100k raise which is his raise in his contract each year.

Sexton got FSU to match and when he came back to the well for more from LSU, that was probably the deal breaker.
You can't tell me after watching Harris through 3 quarters, LSU higher ups squashed the deal and said this passing game is improved, we're keeping Les.
Sexton played LSU until about halftime and the King pulled the plug when the price kept going up.

LSU offered $6.5 mil per so I'd imagine FSU matched or gave him a bigger guarantee. This was a Sexton deal from the start. Jimbo was never coming to LSU. As soon as FSU matched, he called LSU to squeeze more money.

You have inside sources, too?

I hope he is satisfied at FSU because he priced himself out of 98% of the market.

It's in the works I'm sure. Probably comes out within next few weeks or immediately after their bowl game

Why would FSU match a deal that wasn't available? F. King pulled any offer made, so there was no job for Jimbo to take here or use as a negotiating ploy to get a pay raise.

Les isnt still the coach because Jimbo backed out. Who really knows if Jimbo may or may not have taken the job, but Les is still the coach because the offer was basically pulled by the University President during the Aggie game

pretty spot on except for the deal being pulled during the aTm game.

If he was getting an extension and/or a raise, FSU would have announced it immediately, especially with additional jobs coming open (i.e. UGA). The fact that this has not occurred tells me we did not lose this deal because FSU made a counteroffer. It appears we just screwed it up on our end (either politically or because we didn't have enough cash to sit at the big boy table).

No matter which scenario of King killing the deal you buy, if LSU withdrew its offer, FSU doesn't have any obligation to give him a raise that would have come up during negotiations. Unless some kind of letter of intent was signed, nothing would be legally binding.

Maybe they give him a smaller bump to preserve some goodwill, but again, if they felt he and Sexton were just trying to strong arm them into another raise after just 11 months, they could respond by playing hardball themselves. As was mentioned a few mins ago, there are only so many schools that might be willing to pay more, and would be a lateral move or step up. He may have to use the NFL as his bargaining chip next time.

Or -- gasp -- Jimbo actually enjoys his job at FSU and wasn't interested in the LSU job.

Jimbo just signed a new deal in Jan or Feb worth $44 million over 7 or 8 years. I read that LSU offered $30 million over 5 years. Why would he want to leave FSU and the ACC to join the SEC West for essentially the same money?

I think a lot of people severely downplay this.

In addition, I think people severely downplay the mental hurdles you have to clear before taking a job after the prior coach was fired in the midst of an 8-3 football season, after a track record of 111 wins over 11 years.

Hell, I'd just read the Rant. I'd get a sense right away that I'm dealing with some absolutely delusional people, and think long and hard about coming here.
