Is there any scenario where you would be happy with retaining CEO?

There is a lot of anger on this board towards anyone who wants to keep O.. I'm just wondering, for those people, if there is any scenario where you think O would be the best case?

Let's say.. we win out and win the SEC, Texas pays Herman 10 a year and Jimbo extends at FSU. Would you still say no to O?

If Texas, USC, and Notre Dame are open in the same year we're going to be in a tough spot and I'm not sure Orgeron + Aranda isn't the best option we're going to have.

If Orgeron beats Bama, he will earn my respect to the point that I would be okay with retaining him. I already like what he's done. Apparently Miles would run 80 plays per practice? No wonder we were flat as a pancake on Saturdays!!

What else would you want from a coach. Recruiting shouldn't be an issue.

Coaches that get fired from power 5 jobs (Ole miss) do not and should not fall up into a job like LSU. If O wants another power 5 gig then he needs to prove that he can run a successful program at a lower level for multiple years.

The last time LSU hired an assistant that was loved by the players, look what happened. We need to go head to head with Texas and throw the kitchen sink at herman. They may have more money, but LSU is the better program right now.

Not very likely to happen, but a good showing against bama should be plenty to earn anyone's respect.

If we can't get OUR guy or number two, Orgeron is the best answer. One thing we know he can do is recruit, so if a change has to be made in three years the cupboard will still ve full.

He was 6-2 at USC and now 1-0 so far at LSU, that's 7-2 in his last 9 games at Power 5 schools and with many of the players that were at USC and are now at LSU HIS recruits and with talent far greater than he could get at Ole Miss...

If he runs the table or loses to Bama that would still put him either 14-2 or 13-3 as a head coach at Power 5 schools since leaving Ole Miss...

Its clear that he learned from his mistakes at Ole Miss where he was micro-managing everything to allowing the other coaches to do their job and not running his players into the ground in practice...

We still have 7 games to go but I think he's going to shock many of you and I'm rooting for him and if he does go 8-0 or 7-1 he should be named the head coach and he wouldn't command $5-6 million either...

And for those dismissing him no matter how much success he has in these 8 games simply because he failed the first time is very revealing...

That alone should get him the job.

Those should make it a lock.

However, see my sig line.

FTR. I'm OK with keeping O but I do have a want for Herman with the current D staff we have.

If they retain orgeron they'll be middling for another 4 years and then probably be looking again. But it'll probably happen because he talks like us so people love him.

I've seen a lot of anger and downvotes at people just for suggesting that O has a shot at the job.

EDIT: like the dude a couple posts above

Probably because anyone else promoted to the interim position would have a 0% chance of becoming the permanent head coach, regardless of how well the team performed.

Imagine if we promoted Cameron or Peveto as the interim head coach - the team could win out with a SEC Championship and no one would want LSU to retain either of them.

Most LSU fans are emotionally vulnerable, and they become hopelessly enchanted whenever they see a likable, charismatic guy like Orgeron. They lose the ability to step back and look at the situation objectively and rationally.

I like him on a personal level but do not want him to be the head coach. Especially based on one game, against a bad SEC east team. There are many, many better options than ed orgeron.

The entire USC fanbase thinks Orgeron should have been the head coach there. I'm surrounded by them on a daily basis
