Him being the worst coach in America is working against him.

He had the LSU name on his shirt. I don't recall anyone calling Miles a great recruiter while at Oklahoma State.
Actually he recruited decent there. When he took over OSU hadn't recruited a Top 25 class in years. He also brought in the Woods clan.

Im surprised that Minnesota didn't hire him. It seems to me, he is either going to ESPN or to a mid major team if he wants to coach again.

probably to some extent. i also think his not being a very good coach and his quirkiness not playing everywhere is working against him.

He is going on these interviews because he has to. If he refuses LSU has right not to pay him the buyout.

I gotta believe Les attends the interviews but in a way tells them he is not interested and gives advice.

I'm thinking he has an ESPN gig lined up and wont be announced for a few more months.

That's just an excuse the Sunshine Pumpers make for their boy since they can't admit that he isn't good enough of a coach to land a decent head coaching job. He was truly lucky to end up at LSU, it made his name.

I suppose if he wasn't getting buyout money and he were getting turned down for jobs you'd have a better point. But you can't pretend that he doesn't have incentive to go on sham interviews.

That honor belongs to JJ not Miles

I mean Butch Davis was recently named head coach at FIU and he's 2 years older than Miles.

Every AD knows Miles doesn't want to coach.

Once you understand that then I won't have to read these threads.

Exactly, any job he would be able to get would essentially be him coaching for free since they won't pay him more than his buyout.

Miles' offense is what's working against him.

Easily a factor.

Except that Saban is older than Miles. If Saban announced he was leaving Bama and ready to coach another college team, would his age keep him from getting any job offers?

Miles's age is not a factor. He's not that old.

No. He just isn't very good. And without a budget to pay coordinators he is a below average coach.

Exactly!

How do you and every AD know this? Seems like a stretch that you'd be able to read Miles's mind. In essence, you are accusing him of being a liar when he says he is ready to coach now.

The reason why Miles hasn't been hired yet is because of his own deficiencies as a football head coach. These deficiencies were notable and were there to see by every close observer of his games.

True, but he is literally the only 63+ coach I could think of that could get a college job. It is absolutely a factor in Les not getting a job. Is it the only factor? Of course no. But those who dismiss it altogether are ridiculous.

No, it isn't ridiculous to dismiss Miles's age as a factor. He's only 63 years old!

There isn't a program in America that wins without good coaching, and LSU won a lot under Les Miles. Alabama is an all time great program, but they went through a string of bad coaches and sucked until Saban brought them back. Michigan (another blue blood) had a decade of shite until Harbaugh.

But those that hate him refuse to acknowledge that maybe the dude doesnt want to coach anymore or right now.

Then why the hell does he keep interviewing for several jobs the past couple of months.
