As HC, which one do you pick? Assuming that if you hire one the other still stays.

Leave it like it is. If we HAVE to choose those two.

Ill take the coach that has actually led a great side of the ball. The people that want Coach O as head coach are out of their fricking minds.
You dont fire one of the most successful coaches in sec and lsu history to hire a dline coach(which is what he was).

Aranda with Coach O going back to an assistant role.

I tend to agree with you. I would like to give Aranda the opportunity to step up and take the reigns. Obviously, neither would be at the top of my list, but if I'm picking between the two it's aranda for me as well.

How about the one who was chosen to be the other's boss. Funny how Coach O wasn't good enough to be defensive coordinator but should be head coach.

100% Aranda.

Extremely intelligent and we know regardless of anything else, we'll have an unreal defense.

Right now I would take O over Aranda as head coach. Aranda is a bright guy but great coordinator doesn't necessarily make a great head coach.

Somehow the last 5 years doesn't feel that successful. I wish Coach O (or any other coach) was in charge of LSU football in the last 5 years.

O. Aranda is too unproven and I want that O recruiting.

The OP stipulated that the one not chosen for HC is still retained. How is this not unanimously for Aranda? We keep him in the fold and still get O's recruiting. Best of both worlds.

And O stands a better chance of being a great coach than Aranda?

I'd probably keep it like it is. I'd rather O do the firing up, recruiting, father figure role and let Aranda build and be hands on with the juggernaut defense. I think you're playing to the strength of both with that arrangement.

I think people sometimes overvalue the HC and undervalue great coordinators. I also think O has probably learned a lot from his failure in the past. Not saying he's my number one choice but if he is retained as a ceo/recruiter /father figure HC and wr pair Aranda with an innovative young offensive coordinator, I think all in all we could do a lot worse.

Is he doing a bad job of it right now? what has Aranda shown you that makes you think he would be a good head coach?
