Who are the OC ideas?

I still like the idea of Major Applewhite from a few years ago. Younger with a fresh approach at offense. Would be good for the QBs as well.

What others?

Applewhite has as much to do with Houston's offense as Cam does with LSU's

Would be returning home, since Applewhite played high school football in LA.

Do you think he would do well at recruiting LA players for LSU?

Not sure about any others yet, but I know there will be some good candidates available.

A good one should insist on being able to call plays and not let Miles be the one doing that.

Not according to Herman:

quote:

Once Houston hired Herman, it didn't take him long to hire Applewhite. As Herman has transitioned from a hands-on role as an offensive coordinator to the job of CEO, he has taken comfort in the trust he has in Applewhite.

"I try to leave Major alone as much as I can on game day," Herman said. "We'll talk in between series. 'What are you seeing? What do you like?' And then, during a series, very similar to mine and Urban's relationship. ... I can focus on managing the entire team without getting so consumed with every play call."

Herman said he tosses out suggestions and reminders.

Are you forgetting who will be performing the interview? That person will not get hired?

No, and your point is well taken.

Too bad someone in a very high position, even over Miles, can override him on that, if that is what it takes.

It is indeed a remote possibility that will happen.
