Don't you guys realize that LSU is going to make up whatever money they pay to Jimbo 10 fold with "Jimbeaux" merchandise sales. All in the master plan! Alleva is a genius.

From what I have read on here. It's not about the amount, it's about the who you are spending it on.

These people have no clue just how much money a elite hire can bring in and yes Jimbo is considered a elite hire.

People want to be on the same level as Alabama Ohio State and Michigan but don't want to pay the price

If you want Coach O because "Jimbo costs too much" then you should be happy with being mediocre every year

Good. It's about time people learned that we are a top 5 program. Let's annoy the mainstream media like Trump did. Lol

Paying a coach on the same level as Alabama Ohio State and Michigan is not going to put you in the same level. Finding a coach that is on that same level should be the goal.

LSU football was at around $133m last year. Paying a good coach $7m

That's around 5 %. Sounds good to me

I'll have to find the article, but I recently read Saban increased alabamas annual football budget from something like ~$15mil to ~$45mil within his first 2 or 3 years.

Alabama is rolling in profit, # of University applicants are up, enrollment is way up, all leading to quality of student admitted being up. So not only do they have more money as an AD, the entire institution benefits.

If you fully commit the resources and also have the potential to be a top football program it can be huge for your school. Some schools are more likely to reach that success than others, and some schools need it more than others as well. I believe we qualify in both categories.

NYT: Alabama Is Rolling in Cash, With Tide Lifting All Boats
quote:

In the last decade, enrollment has increased by more than 55 percent, to a record 37,100 students this fall, and more than half of the students now are from out of state, another seismic shift. The acceptance rate in the last decade fell to 54 percent, from 72 percent. This year, 2,261 freshmen are enrolled in its Honors College, two and half times the number 10 years ago. Its 174 National Merit and National Achievement finalists rank Alabama among the top five public universities.

Unfortunately for them, their inferior intellect and stupidity prevents them from seeing the obvious. Poor lost souls.

Plus, in like 25 years when he sucks but has already won like 18 Nattys we can make Jimbleaux tees and still rake in the cash!

Exactly!!! I'll pay 10 million for Saban because he is worth it. Spending money to spend money is just plain stupid.

Paying a coach 7 million for the same result as a 5 million coach is a business loss.

Paying a coach 4-5 million for the same result as 7 million coach is a business win.

It not about the money it's about spending money on the right person.

4 out 7 years, Fisher has had 3 or more losses.

For any simpleton you may encounter who can't grasp simple concepts, just explain to them in these words so they get it:

"Regarding budgetary issues, it is simply a matter of optics because the education budget and athletic budgets are entirely separate animals. Paying a coach has absolutely no effect on either state or education budgeting." [tm]
