How would you react if we hired Dabo at the end of the year? He's got a great record. Seems to check off every box I've seen people consider important.

P.S. I know he's not coming. Hence the hypothetical part. Just trying to see what the general consensus would be if he WERE to come.

What about Saban? Or Belichick?

I'm sure we'd all be pissed to have a proven successful HC.

99.9% would be ok with that...you can never say 100% with LSU fans.

Dabo's just dumb enough to never leave Clemson.

He'd leave for Bama, but Saban will almost certainly have significant influence in the hire that replaces him when he retires, and I don't see him handing over the keys to this clown.

But he's not an Xs and Os coach. That's why I'm wondering. That's the only thing he doesn't check off, and everyone claims it's a big deal, yet they would be happy with Dabo?

Actually I think you are trying to create a parallel between CEO and Dabo. Both weren't coordinators, both are motivators, great recruiters, etc. I get it, but the biggest argument is not their similarities. It will be their differences, one has had enormous success as a head coach and one has only had success as an interim head coach.

I would say let's the season play out. If he has done enough to EARN the job and he is our best option then so be it. I will support him.

If you know he is not coming then why ask the question? Since he is a former Bama player I would assume he would be waiting for Satan to go to hell then he will take that job.

And I've been caught. I just thought it was odd that people were so hard on O, when his doppelgänger is doing so well at Clemson. Everyone here would go crazy for Dabo, as evidenced.

they would only go crazy b/c of what he has done since getting the job. They would have melted beyond imagination if they would've hired him the way Clemson hired him... straight from position coach to interim to regular head coach.

I get your point, it's possible to go from position coach to head coach and be successful. Not going to argue that, I just want our best option available....whoever that may be.

I do too, but I don't care for the shitting on O all the time. If we can get better, great. I want what's best for the team and the school. But I personally think O would be a great back up plan. His style of coaching, provided he has a good supporting cast, is proving to be successful.

Yes. If we miss on 5 or so other coaches AND he does well the rest of the season, i agree with you. Although, i have doubts about his success rate long term based on his prior experience.

That's just people who feel shitty about their lack of success. Expose them for what they are and they usually hide!

I don't. He went into OM with the wrong mindset, like he could just walk in and start winning with no effort. My wife's family are OM boosters. They hate O because they said he didn't care about the team. He didn't care to meet the team when he was hired, he was more worried about getting to the car lot to buy a new car. Things like that make me not count that HC stint toward what he could do here. He's got a new outlook, a new plan. I think he could do well if we have to rely on him.

The reaction?

Half of our fan base would be furious because he's not Coach O.

Alabama is his dream job and he's already rolling at Clemson with no connections to LSU.

I personally think he owes a lot of his success to Brent Venables but we will see about that after Venables gets his chance to be head coach somewhere else.
