he's not a terrible hire but let's not go crazy here. He's a "decent hire" and a good coach but definitely a wait and see if he's going to be a great one.
It was one of the best hires we could have made, knowing what we know right now. Maybe we could have rolled the dice on an up and comer and gotten the next Nick Saban, but that's doubtful. BB is a great hire when you look at what he has actually accomplished.
We weren't going to get Saban or Miles. Who else could we have gotten that was realistically within reach (not Saban, not some wet dream NFL coach) and has a better resume in the college game? Don't say Petersen or Patterson, because they coach in far weaker conferences than BB did.
