The guy never turns out great recruiting classes.
In fact, he's so bad at it, he had to complain about Urban Meyer using "SEC tactics" when recruiting against him last year.
If he couldn't turn out a top 25 class once in 7 years of using the gentleman's rule of recruiting in the Big 10, how will he be able to field a team when he has to battle with the likes of Texas, A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Bama, Georgia etc etc year in and year out for athletes.
He has no ties or ins with kids down here.

I think it was a terrible hire. He's proven moderate success in an effortless recruiting environment over a 7 year span. His job just got 25x harder and its happening with a program that's currently a dumpster fire.

I'm a Wisconsin fan but have always disliked Bielema. Arkansas won't enjoy this ride.

Urban Meyer made him quit, so he came down to Saban's playground.

It's going to turn out to be a massive, massive failure

I don't think he's a great hire but it's not bad. Saying its a bad hire because he can't recruit is stupid. Did you see the recruiting classes Petrino raked in at Arkansas? Not very impressive. Still did a lot with it though.

Bad hire might be an overstatement, but you get get the point. I do not think he was the most optimal guy considering the circumstances.

Petrino put up 3, maybe 4 (I could be mistaken here) top 25 classes. He also had ties and connections throughout the south east.

And still wins regardless of how bad those classes are. How is that a terrible hire?

He will hire Coaches that do.

If he hires a good staff he will be successful.

because half the schools he was competing against were recruiting worse than his 45-50 ranked classes.

Not impressive in the SEC. Even Vandy has had a couple top 25 classes lately. He was landing a bunch of three stars when everybody in the SEC rakes in 4 stars and 5 stars. Point is you don't have to recruit well to be competitive if you can develop players. You might not win championships but you can still be competitive.

I'm not bagging on him and you don't need to defend him to death because he's a Hog now, just like you.

My point is I've watched him mire in medeocrity for 7 years at Wisconsin, and watch him post 10-2 records while dropping games to every top 10 team on the schedule. What he did up there with relative ease will be 25x harder down here given his abilities (or lack there of) to pull in talent when he had no legitimate competition for it.

He may turn out better. Even as a fan of the Badgers, I never liked the guy. Always thought Wisconsin could have been better. We'll see I guess. I think Wisconsin got the better end of the deal though.

and the B10 as a whole has been awful. all time bad. we keep hearing about 3 rose bowls, but you dont hear any rose bowl wins.

He's guided Wisconsin to a grand total of 4 wins over top 15 teams since 2009. He's

Arkansas will play 4 top 10 teams on it's schedule in one season.
Back dooring your way into the Rose Bowl 3 years in a row isn't winning the big game.

I think he's a bad hire. And 10 win seasons in a shite conference where SEC recruiting tactics offend the man don't make me think he'll do Arkansas any justice.

Look at how many 4-5 star recruits in Wisconsin! Probably none.

He has made lemonade with lemons. He may belly up, but looks like a very good hire.

then think of it this way: wisconsin is a historically awful program, even by big 10 standards. yet he's managed to put up 11+ win seasons with subpar recruiting. the guy can coach.

When did Wisconsin ever do better before him? Maybe you have unrealistic expectations for Wisconsin football. His winning percentage is 10% higher than the legend himself Alvarez.
