Jimbo is a great QB coach and has developed several good QBs such as JaMarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, Jameis Winston, EJ Manuel but beyond that...

[1] Is he a better recruiter than Les or O? I do not think so.

[2] Is he a brilliant offensive mind (conceptually) like Spurrier, Petrino, Meyer, Briles? I do not think so. Hell I do not think he is better than Malzahn, Leach (just as an offensive mind).

[3] He runs a pro-style run first offense. I mean to run a pro-style offense in college is stupid, in this day and age. You need future NFL QB, future NFL linemen and you need at least 3-4 years for them to all click together. And we all know the state of Louisiana has not produced a great NFL QB in the last 15 years. Conceptually, what will he do on offense that will be more than marginal improvement over Les.

[4] Saban's assistants have all been duds as head coaches. Muschamp was a disaster, Jim McElwain is only a slight improvement of Muschamp, Kirby Smart is not looking so good in Georgia, Derek Dooley was a disaster at Tennessee. I understand Jimbo has been successful at Flordia State but he has had similar talent and weaker competition. So do you seriously see him do better than 9 wins?

Seriously north of 6.75 million is a lot of money for an average coach. I think O & Ensminger could do about the same for far less.

Well, I didn't have to read past this because Jimbo has out-recruited LSU the past 3 years.

if we hire O for 3 years, save 4.5 million a year on staff pay, we can save that 13.5 million on top of an annual base of 9 million for Saban in 2020

Yes, he is. Incredible recruiter, proven QB developer, offensive specialist. Motherfricker has a recent undefeated NC. WHAT more do you want?

He steals most of the best talent in florida against the likes of Florida, Miami, etcetc.
He will get the talent in his own backyard at LSU plus he knows the Florida area well now. Recruiting is not his issue.

Money is not a factor/issue for LSU. They will pay what they think is needed to get the guy they want.

Things I don't care about:

How much of someone else's money a coach gets paid.

Would he only be recruiting QBs in Louisiana?

Just FYI he's coached 4 first round QBs and none of them were from the state he was coaching it at the time

Who do you think LSU should be targeting? If you think LSU is in a position to make Orgeron the head coach then you're incredibly stupid.
