Guys, I'm still of the opinion, the BOS and King simply lacked the political will to acquire an elite coach. They wanted to create the illusion that they tried.

They are perfectly fine with 8-4/9-3 as long as the bills are paid. Of course they still have to sell that they are "competing for championships", but they could not care less.

Last week thread

I am convinced more than ever that LSU did not go in with the intention to hire anyone other than O. Probably not Alleva's choice, but he is a feckless puppet.

The BOS and King baked this into the cake. Interested to see the raise Jimbo gets. We'll see how real that $6.8 million offer was.

Didn't LSU have one of the highest paid stafffs? Doesn't compute.

After Miles payout we can't afford to do it. Oh well hope for the best but expect the worse.

It's not about ability to pay, it's about the headline

"$7 million head coach amidst budget crisis" is what would stick. Now they don't have to worry about that.

The general, snapshot news, doesn't care about total compensation. All they look at is what the HC is paid. "$5.5 million for that!" ad nauseum.

My gosh. Some of you aren't all there in the head. You think he comes here for 5 mil and Texas just says Ok cool. There would have been a bidding war and it would have probably reached mid 6 if not more.

A bidding war that we did not have the political will to enter into. Reported Jimbo Fisher wasn't even offered in some places.

They lost all leverage once Alleva cut off communication. What happened to Oregon or Baylor wanting him? Herman's agent fricked up.
