This is like a bad divorced woman. If Herman is as smart as I think he is, one call to coach Strong to get the inside info of what a complete shite show the Texas situation really is. If this isn't all about the $ I think LSU has a shot with him. LSU can offer 6.5 mil to start with incentives kicking in for a 10 or more win season, SEC championship and or a national championship could raise it to at least 9 mil total.

Texas has no leadership. They should have hired Oliver Luck in 2013, need to hire him ASAP now. Beg him to come. They need a leader with athletics experience who can control the boosters. Luck checks all the boxes and is a Longhorn.

Oliver Luck is a Longhorn? He is from Cleveland and played college ball at WVU. He has lived in Houston for quite a while.

How does that conversation go?

Herman: Hey man, you're getting shite canned, how bad is it over there?
Strong: ...
Herman: Yeah, my agent's working the deal but I want to know what I'm walking into.
Strong: How did you get my number?
Herman: Should I take the job?
Strong: Seriously, shouldn't we be trying to coach our last game of the season?
Herman: They're offering $7 million, I want to know if Austin is worth it.
Strong: Leave me alone.
Herman: K man, thx good lookin' out. I'll stay in Houston.

I'm thinking Herman will want to bring Major Applewhite with him wherever he goes.

After what happened with Major at Texas, I doubt they will want that.

If I were Herman I'd pack my bags for Oregon. Beautiful place with incredible facilities.

That's been discussed a fair amount - first, I think Major would angle for the open UH job if Herman left. Second, there could be some quasi-legal reasons Major would not be invited back to UT. So I would put it at less than 50% that he would come to UT if Herman is hired.

I don't want him here. His last stint as sole OC (after Harsin left) was not impressive at all. Unless you think continuing to run an oft-concussed QB into the BYU d-line is impressive.

I'm actually a little surprised, BTW, that Harsin's name isn't being thrown around for the UT job.

I know LSU has the money, but do you guys think the powers that be would be OK with paying Herman $6.5-7 million right now? I can see selling the right people on that for Jimbo, but not as much on Herman.

I pray to god they would. Saban literally has taken lessons from Herman. He's the key to taking down Sabans Death Star.

I'd be really, really surprised if UT would pay Herman that amount. I can see 4.5-5.5, which obviously is in that ballpark but still 1-2 M less.

Powers isn't here anymore to give out sweet deals like Strong got.

Agreed. He took chickenshit in his time as Co-OC at Texas and made passable chicken salad. The guy knows how to run a program.

The guy can get talent there. To me If it was between Texas and Oregon, given UT's administrational and booster mess, I'm taking Oregon and not looking back
