Don't shoot the messenger, if you don't like the info than disregard.

One of my good friends growing up is a huge UT booster and very influential in UT circles especially in the athletic department. We spoke last night for about a half hour and he said there is almost zero chance Strong is coaching next year at UT. He said that enough power brokers at UT truly want Herman at UT next year and are making serious noise to make that happen. He said that if UT loses this weekend to Oklahoma that will seal his fate even if UT wins out from there on. He also stated that even if UT wins the game this weekend no matter what is said in the press he feels it is very remote that Strong will be coaching at UT next year unless UT absolutely goes on a tear from here on out which most people at UT feel that is a very remote possibility.

My buddy went on to say that the AD's comments were done strategically so that Herman and his agent understand not to do anything until their horse gets into the race. He also said that if Strong has a couple of really bad outings, the biggest one being this weekend, and even though the AD said that his job is secure during this season that they could pull a LSU and fire Strong during the season. His last comments to me were "Strong's footing right now at Texas is as tenuous as Les Miles's was at LSU this year" and we all know how that turned out.

Ok most of this information might be surmised already because I pretty much figured that to be the case prior to talking with my friend but this is what he told me and he has actually never been wrong when keeping me up with what is going on at UT when it comes to athletics. Take what you want from this post, just trying to pass on information I was given. Also I am not going to name my friend because he is way to connected to UT athletics and it will jeopardize his relationship and standing with UT if his name got out and I would probably lose a life long friend. Like I said just passing on information I heard you can do with it what you want.

Sources like this are about as meaningful as any one political poll out there now. Proof is in the puddin. LSU acted, UT is still letting its "sources" do its talking. Supposedly.

I agree, I doubt it's as simple as people make it out. No one can get in his head... but, you seem to be repeating this message throughout the board. Do you have anything to back up your belief?

They really should just fire Strong now if they know they want him out. Maybe they aren't doing that because they want to make sure Herman is a go for Texas before they fire a guy that is less than 3 years into a total rebuild. Mack left that place a disaster.

Does anyone actually have a source on Herman saying his dream job is UT? An interview? Video? Anything?

Problem for Texas is that with recent failures they need a sure thing. Is that Heman?

LSU can afford a swing and miss more.

It doesn't matter when the school fires their coach. Bottom line is herman isn't making a decision until after the Louisville game, and that's if they aren't in the final four.

All that matters is if the job is open at the end of the season.

Does Houston have open practices? What if Joe Alleva just showed up one day to watch Houston practice?

earlier, I posted this in another thread...it's relevant to the OP

Was listening to a local sports show with some guy named Pete Thamel from SI...the crux of this, the firing of Miles has set off a panic among legacy programs already contemplating making a change...Strong, Malzahn, and the USC guy are now dead men walking...Oregon possibly...Jimbo will leave FSU only for LSU, if they ask he'll walk. Herman's dream job is UT, but UT are afraid LSU will throw the bank at Herman, and the SEC intrigues him...next to Herman, PJ Fleck is the hottest coaching commodity in College football...Petrino with the PJ money isnt leaving UL...Auburn is a dumpster fire and according to the SI guy Briles will be pursuing the job....this is all from SI, some guy named Pete Thamel

Texas' problem isn't offense. Hire Herman and and the what? Still give up 30 plus every week?

I don't think Alleva can afford to swing and miss on anymore of his hires.

I'm not sure LSU can either.
