They run down candidates that have resumes that far exceeed anything O has ever done. I mean I don't want Fedora but he's far more accomplished than O yet he's unhirable? I don't get it.

Football is fun again.

They equate stepping in and being successful as interim HC to being a successful *head coach*. To them since he's won recently that trumps (pardon the pun) his lack of success as a HC and coordinator.

I think LSU could do better and i think they could do worse but I don't think being a successful interim should qualify someone for a top 5 job - unless they have at least a moderately successful resume as a HC. He doesn't have that. He should use this as a spring board to go somewhere else to do that.

Here's what I don't get about the Herman crowd...

He beat Oklahoma and an uninspired FSU.

He managed to get beat by Navy and SMU in the same season.

Agreed. They can somehow criticize Fisher, who's won a NC, been to another playoff, sent countless QBs to the NFL, etc. over the course of a successful career. Yet they want the rest of us to feel good about O's leadership over a very short time, forgiving his career record. It's completely insane, every day on here is crazy town, same old stuff.

After years of Les Miles' shitty offensives, that was the worst offensive performance since 1/9.

Throw in the clock management issues, and he was able to fit all the flaws of LM into that one game. That alone should have diqualified him from consideration.

fricking sick of shitty offenses. Enough is enough. And a f'n career dline coach isnt the answer. He's won against teams that we could run the ball against and shite the bed against the one team that we couldn't. The guy is Les Miles with a cajun accent.

In other words, replace Miles with a Miles without the resume.

Say what you want about Herman, but he's 20-3 with a roster largely comprised of players he did not recruit. He like many young coaches (go look at Saban's first season or 2 at Kent St.) will lose games implementing a system at a new school. But Herman is widely regarded as THE up and coming coach, not just by some on this message board.

If you polled all of the Power 5 teams and gave them the option of Herman or Orgeron 100% would pick Herman.

How many skins on the wall did O have when he was building a program? So knock those wins all you want, still better than anything O ever accomplished as a headman

All true. And he's still more qualified than O according to his resume.

That's just not debateable.

And you're proving the op's point.

Miles, who won a national championship, went to another final game and sent countless players into the NFL, etc., was criticized. Why should Fisher be above criticism?

The O crowd avoids posts like this. They can't put forth a rational position.

He's not. But why is Coach O even a candida?

And honestly, Navy's not garbage, and SMU is looking better every week. For a team w/LSU's talent to lose to either would be bad, but not so much for Houston.

Because it's an emotional decision to them that defies logic.

O is a nice story, doesn't mean we should hire him. Hell, I feel bad having to constantly run him down but people have lost their damn minds.

(1) Aleeva said he would be when he was offered the interim job;
(2) O has pulled the team together and has won ever game, so far, that he was supposed to win;
(3) O has shown improvement in his HC skills by letting coordinators coach;
(4) O is a accomplished recruiter, understands the culture and has sent many players to the NFL;
(5) Has been the part of several national championship teams, so knows how to develop a winning culture.

He may not be a first choice-- let's see how the season plays out. But he warrants an interview.

You know your resume is weak when this comes in at #3 on your list of qualifications

This is not what some people are saying. This thread is for the people saying O is better than Jimbo. And believe me, they're out there.
