I've been wondering what kind of spread helfrich runs. I've been hearing a lot on the "finesse spread" system but wondering about the success that Royce Freeman has seen under him and wondering how it would work here? Thanks guys

The "finesse" system gets your playmakers out in space in advantageous one on one matchups. We just need the right quarterback, the athletic talent that LSU recruits will do the rest. Get a strong OC who is great at developing quarterbacks. O can then just step back and recruit, be a CEO coach and motivate. Keep it simple. Aranda with the defense we will be just fine. I'm looking forward to it.

People call it finesse, but it's all based off of zone with the idea of getting as many double-teams as possible and blowing people off the line of scrimmage

Here's s good read to what Chip Kelly liked to do. I assume Helfrich kept it.

It's a mixture of zone blocking with some counter/power stuff mixed in. There is a fair amount of repetition to get defenses reacting a certain way then hitting them over the top on play action. Look at highlights from Oregon/FSU and Oregon/Michigan State 2015 and you'll get a feel for what he tries to do.
