Is his goal to recruit Louisiana heavily and hope kids from the boot want to play at UTSA?

Maybe...but he really doesn't have to. He can get similar players using less resources without traveling too far from San Antonio.

Looks like. Alot of talent goes to Tech and ULL. If he can get some of that, he'll do well.

UTSA can be a really solid program with the right pieces in place.

Even if Frank Wilson doesnt make it as a head coach whoever walks in after him will be working with a decent amoutn of talent.

Plus a roster of under the radar texas and Louisiana kids can surprise a few people.

what kind of hires did you expect him to make at UTSA? Going with young up and comers seems like the right move.

Up and comers with at least some Texas ties (maybe he'll do that with the offensive coaches). Plenty of smaller schools to poach from like Sam and SFA. Would that many kids from Louisiana turn down La tech, ULL, mcneese, etc. just to play at UTSA? Thus far, i'm pretty damn happy we hired Withers. I think he'll do a hell of a lot better than Wilson.

I would think with the ties that Frank and his staff will have to New Orleans and the surrounding area they would get a few kids per year. For me I would rather spend time in San Antonio than Ruston, Lafayette, or Lake Charles.

Yea SA will appeal to some players. Worth sticking a coach out here especially one as connected as Rollins

Recruiting has a lot more to do with building relationships, personality, diligence, the ability to relate, and communicate vision than where the coach is from. I'm sure coach Wilson knows a lot more about recruiting than you and I, he and the staff will do great WHEREVER they target!

The guys he's hiring will be able to build relationships and recruit Texas as well. If he can get some of the kids Tech and ULL are getting plus 15-20 more from Texas that have been overlooked by the big schools, they could be pretty solid. That said I like both hires, I think Withers could do an excellent job there

I don't think Jason Rollins is leaving to go to UTSA.

How well do they draw in the Alamodome? Are there plans for UTSA to have a stadium in the future?

33,000 attendance.

Actually, that's pretty durn good, especially compared to ULL and Tulane. Not sure what Tech averages.
