He is entering a locker room that is going to be divided

A lot of transfers incoming and those who do stick around will be divided into factions

Dumpster fire situation to be walking into

frick Minnesota and their administration for firing their previous coach. It's for this reason I hope they fail and go the way of Kansas after they fired Mangino

Remember Kansas fired Mangino and hired the hot name MAC coach who just won the MAC as well and that's what started their tank.

Dave Doeren kinda sucks too and he was all the rage after that 12-1 orange bowl winning year.

Seems like a lot of these coaches catch lightning in a bottle for a year or two

Most people who have had read the report say the firing is justified.

I think it's a good move for him. The only things that might open up that are better next year would be A&M or Tenn (ND wouldn't deal with his schtick IMO). Plus, his stock may drop if he goes 7-5. This recruiting cycle will be a loss, but there is no reason he can't get the program to Wisconsin caliber.

Oars are going to be the hot item. So many lakes to row in Minnesota.

P.J. Fleck should start, at the least, 6-1. From there, it is entirely possible Minnesota will drop four of their final five games.

This is an upgrade for Minnesota, though I have my doubts that: (1) his salesman-approach works in a major conference, and (2) stays at Minnesota very long.

Minnesota's 2017 recruiting class is garbage (last in the B1G), so I have to imagine Fleck will have a couple WMU recruits follow.

It seems like every coach who wins the MAC ends up getting hired away after that season.

How many of these coaches have actually been successful.

Brian Kelley - Good at Cincinnati, good but falling at Notre Dame
Butch Jones - Average at Cincinnati and Tennessee
Jerry Kill - Decent at Minnesota
Turner Gil - Failure
Mike Haywood - Never even made it to the first season
Tim Boeckman - Failure
Matt Campbell - 2-10 at Iowa State year 1
Brady Hoke - Successful for 1 year at San Diego State and Michigan, then failure
Dave Doeren - Textbook definition of mediocre
Darrell Hazell - Failure
Dave Clawson - 7-6 is the best he has done
Dino Babers - 4-8 at Syracuse first year

These MAC hires are no sure thing

Bad move for him IMO, Minnesota is likely a dead end job impossible to actually do anything of note there.

Yeah, good hire for Minnesota. Shitty career move for Fleck. He could have waited it out and gotten a much better job with another good/great year.

Not really.. what if he would have went 6-6 next year at WM? He misses out on his huge payday

I don't think the locker room is divided. I think the locker room is pissed because the administration fired their coach for backing them. Will Fleck be able to win them over, maybe not but their only other choice is to quit and give up their scholarship.

A handful of plays away from being 6-6 with wins over Oklahoma and Oklahoma state in his first year. He will be a great one.

Will he tell all of the recruits their offers are no good anymore like he did at WMU? Maybe he will take the Minnesota job and then back out like he's done also before.

I'm glad that scammin' PJ will end up at Minnesota. This will minimize the exposure he gets after this upcoming year. He will suck. Minnesota will suck. And the rowboat snake oil salesman will be no more.

Cincy hasn't been in the MAC since 1952 and was a Big East team when both of those coaches were there...

They were both at Central Michigan before leaving for Cincinnati.

Think he was just highlighting a stop these two made before going to P-5 schools.
