Fisher's Offensive Style

In case you haven't read my opinions regarding Jimbo's offensive style, and why I dont believe is the right fit, here a balanced article posted an hour ago. The good and the bad. LSU Coaching Search: Jimbo Fisher
As I said before, he is obviously a good ball Coach. I would like to see him modernize his approach. Your thoughts?
quote:
Fisher’s preferred style of offense is something that we’re all well familiar with, and he’s one of the handful of major program coaches still committed to a very typical pro-style offense...
Here, big-armed pocket passers like Rohan Davey and Jamarcus Russell were given chances to spread the field and push the ball deep, while more athletically gifted players like Matt Mauck and Marcus Randall had opportunities to use their mobility. The classic example being the way Fisher pivoted the Tigers away from Davey to Mauck following an injury in the 2001 SEC Championship Game. LSU suddenly become a quarterback-run heavy offense, using QB draws, powers and some zone read plays to fit Mauck...
That said, it’s an approach that still has its rigidity. Fisher hasn’t adopted any of the modern spread offensive concepts, despite using the formations. He eschews packaged concepts and RPOs, something that Tomahawk Nation Editor Bud Elliott has lamented at times...
Not that I tend to be a believe that any coach has to embrace the spread offense, but it is a bit troubling to see Fisher so resistant to the concepts...

My thoughts are that you are wrong as frick to think the only way to beat Saban is to run a full on spread.
FSU comes out in empty sets all the damn time.
Stop latching on to this.

You should apply for OC, since you played professional football.

A passing pro style offense that actually gets players ready for the nfl will always do well and attract some athletes that don't want to okay in a spread. I much prefer his style to the track meet "modern" styles. I think his defense would agree.

Im not a fan the track me style spread either. But I do like the Power-Spread concepts used by Kiffin, Ohio State, and even Clemson to some degree.

Do you want LSU to become an offense first school like, A&M, Auburn and Ole Miss?
What has that gotten them??
Oo Ole Miss beat Bama, where did they go after?
LSU has always won with defense and a tough run game. Even pre-miles. That's where I,want it to stay.

The author points out that he did just that here at LSU. But he's referring to time here LSU football where Fisher had some trouble deciding on a starting QB. Those years had a lot of two QB alternating. At Florida state he has gone more pocket passer (with some mobility), which is not really a deal breaker. I also agree with the author that he is resistant to a lot core spread principles. Another poster has said that he is empty set all the time. That I disagree with.

No I dont. Keep a guy lack Aranda, and you'll take care of that. Bama has gone power spread. They are NOT offense first.

Whoa there on Auburn. Albeit short lived, they have had a bit more recent success than LSU.

LOL no the aren't.
Bama wins with dominant defense and an offense that gives their defense rest.
Don't let the inflated scores fool you. Yes their offense can be good but the scored alot on defense and special teams.
Keeping a guy like Aranda won't work when the defense lives on the field and gets worn out.
Chavis comes to mind. He left because Miles couldn't get a qb to run the offense and couldn't call plays to keep the defense on the sideline.
Jimbo can do that and has done it here before as well as FSU

if Jimbo isn't it
I am back to O- he talks like me if I was a cajun and not the product of 2 LSU students from Arkansas and Mississippi hooking up.
