Well folks, this is my bet. Fits all the criteria. Would be an upgrade from a recruiting stand point, not enough data to give a reasonable opinion as far as X's and O's go. His first season as DC last year I think he did well, what does the rant think? He only makes 400K at Nike U. Is an Oregon lifer and a WC guy, would give us new recruiting contacts and a new "energy" in the locker room.

I know he wouldn't be a superstar splash hire, but my gut tells me he would have success here.

No we don't need to recruit the west coast, Have plenty players right here in the south. Pellum is not going to be the next DC IMO.

Chavis had us 9th.

Edit: He is not on my top 5 list either, just some smoke in his direction, checking the rants interest. He is probably just juicing us like Shoop did.

During Oregon’s media day session, Ducks defensive coordinator Don Pellum, whose name has been connected in some reports to the Tigers’ vacancy, brushed off questions about whether he’s been contacted by LSU. “I’m just trying to win a football game,” Pellum said.

You do not know Don Pellum personally, and neither do I. How do we know he won't come here? Maybe he wants to be a HC one day, needs to broaden his resume. It could happen. I HOPE NOT

Per Hanny, guy was former head coach, sec experience and currently employed. If he's right then the people I can think of fitting that criteria are:

Chizik
Zook
Boom.

If we are basing our guesses on the clues provided by Hanni on Friday, I think Ron Zook fits the bill. I am aware that he stated that Zook was not the coach, but what is Hanigriff going to say, "Winna winna, chicken dinna"?

Anyone know anything on Dave Huxtable or Dan Disch as possibilities?

Les doesn't know who the next DC is yet. I'm sure he has it narrowed down to 1 or 2 guys worth this wait. Big time hires. No other reason to let this drag out.

Then Les has a safe option. Possibly Brick. Somebody he is comfortable with and will be available if the top choice doesn't pan out.

It's a good sign that no info is leaking. Leaks can kill deals. Les is working hard at the mystery top candidate IMO.

Last advice I have is follow all twitter accounts of East Baton Rouge Parish pool boys

Why would he leave a yearly contender for LSU?

Moving cross country to take the same job, at a school with less money and a HC who may not be there much longer.

I don't see the benefits for him unless he just really wants to be in the SEC

Agreed beaver. He is a west coast guy and that entire staff will be getting big money raises in a few weeks.

I have no insider knowledge, but if the clues are legit, I think it's Zook.

We don't need a west coast lifer with those contacts, rather have a DC that knows the south and can recruit like a mad man in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida. You are just not going to get that many recruits from the west coast to go to Baton Rouge the returns vs the effort/costs just wouldn't be there.

Also why would Pellum leave west coast lifer great program at Oregon and I would bet Oregon matches if we offer. This doesn't make sense especially sense he has no ties to Miles, the South or the SEC.

I agree, however Pellum does recruit those areas, has for years. He is the recruiting coordinator as well as DC.
