IF LSU loses the bowl game, and doesn't look good, think there's another push? I know its hypothetical BUT the buyout does drop after 1/1. I doubt it would change anything but it could be interesting......

No. The bowl game, hell, all bowl games but 3 are just exhibition games. You change coaches because the best bowl game a guy can get to is some rinky-dink game, not because he lost said rinky-dink game

People worry way too much about bowl games. The fact of the matter is that most of the teams that play in the games don't really give a shite about it. Whether you win or lose the result is the same for both teams, the season ends

Do coaches ever get fired for a bad bowl game performance?

This is wrong on so many levels.

I think Michigan canned Rich Rod partially because of their horrible Gator bowl loss to Mississippi State. If you have a mediocre season and get HOUSED in a bowl, you probably deserve to get the axe. (unless you had horrible injury issues or it was a rebuilding year)

only from $15 million to $12.9 million...not significant...so, if not letting him go was about money, I am assume money will still be the issue after Jan 1. Plus, Alleva has already said he is coming back. So, I think Miles coaches next year unless he decides in the next month to resign.

12.9 minus the 4 he made this year. So $8.9m over 8 years minus what he makes coaching elsewhere.

In other words very manageable.

If LSU fires Miles before Dec. 31, 2015, it will owe him a $15 million buyout. That number drops to a measly $12.9 million if Miles is fired before the end of 2017, a meager $8.6 million if fired before 2018’s conclusion, and a scant $4.3 million if fired before the end of Miles’ contract, Dec. 31, 2019.

No. Miles is on the list of safest coaches in America for the next year.

Those values don't take into account potential salary offsets if he lands another job.

I don't see Les taking another coaching job.

By your math, his buy-out goes up on 1/1:

15M minus 4M paid in 2015 = 11M
12.9M minus 0 paid in 2016 = 12.9M
