Does anyone here actually think we make a championship game or playoffs with this hire

In college football competing for championships is the bottom line. We fired miles because he could no longer put us in that position. The coaching search was billed as either finding a proven coach or an up-and-comer, with the expectations of competing for championships in the near future. Does anyone realistically think we can compete with O at the helm, otherwise this was a complete failure.

Look at college football history, the reality is that probably no coach is going to live up to Miles. LSU will probably go through several coaches before seeing that level of success again.

My reflex answer is frick no.

But a part of me thinks O will be successful. He learned from his Ole Miss fiasco. He learned from Miles about not meddling in the offense and not wearing the players out--notice how LSU didn't look physically wore out in November this year. He is a recruiter. Players play hard for him. With the right OC, he really could field a good team.

And if LSU is willing to pay top dollar for assistants, and the assistants know they'll have free rein with LSU talent, it should he an attractive job.

No.

He's 2-2 against ranked teams. Neither of those teams is still ranked.

He fattened his Southern Cal record on tomato cans.

His Ole Miss record (especially compared to the two coaches before and after) speaks for itself.

Best case scenario is beat the rentawins and SEC bottom feeders and lose to the good teams every year. Worst case is we turn into Ole Miss 2005-07.

Yes I think we will make a playoff, not sure we can win it all.
