From my thread days ago.

quote:

The equation is often the same.

Flirt with a new team, neither confirm nor deny. Lead a school to believe its done knowing the leaks are impossible to stop. Therefore leverage is gained.
Tell the school how much its really gonna take.

If Alleva was smart and this is indeed what is going on, he should scratch Jimbo off the list and move on to the next candidate/s. The longer LSU flirts with Sexton the worse the result will be for LSU.

Sexton has been pitting one school against another for far to long. Its slimey
While he and his clients make out the schools get the stick.

However, its seems LSU has academics running the show.

Every agent worth a shite or with a client worth a shite does the same. George Bass did it to LSU. Ferentz wasn't repped by Sexton when he bent Iowa over and got a contract that finally doesn't look insane for the first time in a decade.

Journalists voluntarily become their mouthpieces because it guarantees them access to their clients for one of their 20 "exclusive interviews.

I would like to think sports agents are like talent agents. I work on movies and tv shows and this year I was told all the leaks for who is joining the cast is usually leaked out by the actors talent agency. I am sure something like this is done in sports...anything to get an advantage for the negotiations.

I'd like to find out how leaked articles can perpetually derail deals. If you want to go in a certain direction.....just ignore the articles and go there.

This was about jimbo weighing options and chose competing for the acc a better option than fighting for the sec west.

Leaked articles start rumblings amongst that coaches current fan base and boosters. Catches some steam on social media, reaches local media. School that would lose said coach gets proactive to keep the coach there, interest goes away. Best way for a school to get who they want is to keep everyone out of it especially boosters. You think guys who like throwing out large chunks of money for sports don't want the attention of being the first to know? They are just as guilty of spreading rumors.
