Did Jimbo Back Out Last Year?

Mike D spoke in front of some people the other day and said that everything was a done deal for Jimbo last year which was widely speculated and Miles was going to be fired. Well on the Thursday before the A&M game Jimbo backed out...
This is all coming from a buddy of mine who was in the audience where Mike D was speaking. I am just wondering if anyone had heard anything like this? I thought that F.King and politics knicked the deal at the 11th hour.

Do not want Jimbo. He would be miles part 2. Wish people would stop talking about this overrated idiot.

There's been stories about us backing out and there's been some that Jimbo backed out.
I believe the LSU admin gauged Jimbo's interest and some interest was there. The admin then decided to float the rumors about Les being let go and they were crucified by the media for it. I believe the media heat, along with the state budget situation and political powers that be forced them to back out before giving Jimbo the "shite or get off the pot" type offer.
I think it was 50/50 whether he would have came, but it seems like a better situation this year. LSU has pulled the plug on Miles and Jimbo may be getting some heat with some of his losses this season. We may end up getting him despite last year's shite show. However, i'd prefer Herman.

Yeah screw that national championship winning coach. I'm sure LSU can hire a better national championship winning coach.

There were absolutely discussions between LSU and Jimmy Sexton (Jimbo's agent). The number as to what it would take for Jimbo to be the HC kept moving and growing. Eventually, after being fleeced by Sexton, LSU said enough is enough and ended the negotiations (more of a "take it or leave it" approach)
Sexton was certainly doing his job, but I promise you LSU was not offering peanuts. Jimbo would have gotten a raise to come to LSU. LSU didn't go cheap, but they eventually had to cap the offer (as is the case in all negotiations). Jimbo turned down significant money to come to LSU which leads to the conclusion --- if Jimbo Fisher wanted to be the coach of LSU in 2016, he'd be the coach of LSU. The agent can do all of the negotiations, but his client makes the ultimate call. Jimbo made the call to remain at FSU and no one else.

He's not perfect but if you don't think he's an improvement I don't know what to tell you

Got lucky in a national championship against malzahn with a defensive back at quarterback
Saban would've rolled on him and even Jimbo has admitted that. Remind me what the north carolina score was last week ?

Improvement over coach bebe and ensminger? Maybe marginally. Is that worth 5 million+ a year for an ancient pro style offense? frick no
