The market is driven up. Can you imagine a coach like Sumlin getting 5 mill with not championship 10 years ago?

No way.

I remember when Saban got a big payday in 2003 because of the NC. It was a talking point during the NC game.

Then when he got 4-million a year from Bama...THAT was ridiculous. Now we have coordinators making half that.

Crazy how far CFB coach salaries have come.

Hopefully CLM has already started the search for a new DC. We have no time to waste.

Not a realistic option. Dude has JUST taken a HC job in his hometown. He's not just going to bail a few weeks later. He may not be there forever but to say he's going to pull a suit kidding on his hometown isn't realistic. Especially when he's still making money from Nebraska.

Not like it hasn't happened before. If he wants the job he'd be a slam dunk hire. He'd be on the fast track back to another head coaching opportunity.

It'd be a crappy thing to do but everyone would get over it. I would think even Youngstown State would understand.

What's weird is that Saban gets an enormous raise after going 0-2 in his final two games, and now Chavis got a raise after an 8-5 season and a terrible bowl loss.

College football salaries are strange

CLM was in a rock and a hard place on this one. Chavis may have gotten a raise from aTm but he has not done anything the last two years to merit a further increase at LSU in light of the last two year record. He was living on past team's performance and NFL development.
