Could Les Miles end up at Baylor?

I'm watching the Baylor-Iowa State game and it is not pretty. If Baylor is struggling this bad with Iowa State, they are going to really struggle with the rest of the Big12 this season. If Jim Grobe is not retained as HC, I could see Les ending up at Baylor. Les is just the type of man that Baylor say they want after the Art Briles disaster and he knows how to recruit in Texas. The only downside that I see is that Baylor does not have the players to run the toss dive.

Not a chance. Les Miles will not be on a lot of coaching lists at 62.

I think it would be hilarious for him to wind up at Texas.

Baylor would be god-awful and the pit of the big 12 if they tried to run a Les Miles offense

Maybe not. Nobody in the Big12 plays defense. If LSU had been in the Big12 the last few season we would have scored 50+ every game.

i think miles would go back to his OSU days if he went to baylor

then LSU fans would lose their collective shite

LSU is a school that can successfully run a traditional "pro style" offense. now miles took it to an extreme, conservative degree, but he would likely know at a place like baylor it isn't possible (like when he was at OSU).

I think there is a shot they go after him. They need to clean up their image and Miles will do that.

I think he will get a job but not at Baylor. More like a Big 10 bottom feeder that needs a rebranding

In that interview, to me, he looks and sounds like his age is catching up to him. I would be surprised if a big program hired him. Also the fact that he's an offensive coach who is not good at offense.

Which schools are hiring in that region? Pretty sure they're not looking for a 62 year old coach on the downside of his career.

i don't know if baylor is going to be a "big program" moving forward without briles

if a coach can keep them in the 3-ish loss range consistently then that coach will be an amazig hire

i think les has a shot at doing that. i dunno if byalor has the want for miles

yes, but they would probably also like to win and get more than 80 passing yds a game.

That is another benefit. The melts on TD of a Les Miles coached team running a more open playbook would be legendary.

Where Miles f**ked up was recruiting dual-threat qbs to play in a pro-style offense. Mett was brillant in the Miles/Cameron offense. I know La doesn't produce that many great pro-style recruits, but LSU could go into Texas, Ga, Fl, or any other state and hang with any other program on recruiting.

Yeah I just looked at Baylor's past 3 recruiting classes and Les would have to adjust his style, and maybe getting fired from LSU would make him more flexible on offense.

Really? 3 losses with his offense? the recruiting would be very different. I can't imagine he'd ever lose less than 4 games a year.

Oklahoma
TCU
Oklahoma State
West Virginia
Texas tech
Texas

You think he splits those and doesn't lose any other games ?

Yeah the Briles thing was the worst thing that could happen to a religious school. The ppl that run Baylor are going to be wanting a coach that is a winner and can help rebuild their image. This what they said when they hired Grobe to be the interim coach instead of promoting one of the coaches on the staff:

quote:

"Jim Grobe is the right leader at this time to move Baylor University and the football program forward," said Baylor Vice President and Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. "He has successfully led two FBS programs during his career," McCaw added. "Coach Grobe enjoys an impeccable reputation within the intercollegiate athletics community and is a man of great integrity and faith."

Baylor is looking for integrity over winning, but Baylor just tied the game so who knows they might keep Grobe?

I imagine things would be much different right now if Miles would have just gotten rid of Cam last year and brought in a new, good OC to take more control. He would never do that because of his stubbornness and his relationship with Cam. That's the problem with hiring friends. No use in dwelling on it now.

True, but not changing did cause him to get fired, and he had atleast 2 months to think on it instead of preparing for football games.
