LINK

Meyer makes slightly over $6 million. Saban makes less than $7 million. Fisher does not fit this pay range.

Jeff Fisher makes $7 million. I'd rather pay $8 million and hire a top tier NFL coach. Michigan did it the right way. Pay 8-9 million and hire Tomlin.

I don't know, man. He is arguably the third best/most valuable college coach in the country. You are going to have to pay a premium for him to make what many consider a lateral transfer from a laid back job to a pressure cooker.

What is more interesting to me is what Herman will command. It seems like you can't pay a relatively unproven guy $6+ million, but that's probably what it will take to land him.

He hasn't won anything yet. Pay Fisher his money.

Both will probably be getting raises after this year after the info came out how much JH makes. His salary is going to change things.

I feel like Herman is really only going to be making 5.5-6.5 max. Not sure why we're Ok with paying Jimbo 7 when we could most likely get Herman for less.

This is the most ignorant argument for not paying a coach. At the end of the day would you rather winning and thinking you overpaid or losing but knowing you didn't.

You have no idea what you are talking about if you think we can just throw money at Tomlin and get him to come here. Let's just start there.

It's because it's not for HIS guy. He wants to throw over 7 mil at Tomlin and Kelly, but not Jimbo.

Alleva- "Look this dude on this website called Tigerdroppings just said he doesn't feel like Herman is going to get more than 6.5 from anyone"
BOS- " No shite? 7nette said that?"
Alleva- "Yup"
BOS "Done then, don't give Fisher a penny more"...

What the frick is up with you people?

Saban and Meyer also have paid OCs and QB coaches.

How much do those two HCs make if you add those assistants' salaries to theirs?

Jimbo eliminates the need for those positions.

I'm not laughing at you man but it is a bit funny. Ya'll are looking at a coaching search all wrong. You can not put a number on a coach. You have to decide what the number is for your athletic department to thrive. Like, we can afford to pay X and then you decide who your top choices are and offer them X.

How is negotiating a coaches salary different than negotiating any other salary? People get paid off of what their resume demands. Herman's resume does not have enough time or hardware to be demanding a 7m base contract. Would he be worth it? Probably, but that's what performance bonuses are for. Offer 6m + 2m in bonuses if he does make it all the way. If he does then 8m is well worth it, if he doesn't 6m is a very respectable salary.

Screw it, I'm with you. Let's give the other Harbaugh $9mm. He beat his brother and has a Super Bowl.

Hell let's give Saban $9mm

Money doesn't always a make the hire. If you have a NC HC lined up and willing to take $7mm you have to do it.

The reason it isn't the same as hiring any other position is because you are locking someone down on what they can potentially do in the future compared to the same of other coaches.
