This makes absolutely no sense because the University does not pay millions for the coach. They paid Miles I think 400 or 500 thousand. The rest of the money does not come from the school.

The athletic department is a 100 million dollar machine. King doesn't just sit idly by while the department does whatever they want with that money.

The AD also filters some of that money back into the school, and I'm sure King wouldn't mind seeing $~8 million funneled back into the Baton Rouge campus over the next 4 years.

This administration is predictable.

I certainly hope I'm wrong - but Alleva and the others just don't inspire a lot of confidence.

Pretty sure your source just got his butt-hole fondled by Coach O.

A Penn State situation is the last thing we need right now.

This kinda makes me sick to my stomach.

O would be the most craptastic hire possible at this point. If our top candidates goes from Jimbo/Herman to Orgeron, we deserve the decline that will come quickly.

I'll give it to Coach O for doing everything right and trying his best to win this job, which is what we all would do I hope

But man...I hope this admin does not act irrationally and base their decision on feel good emotions...

Oh wait...they do...that is exactly what they do

Of course he's pushing all the right buttos, he's a high energy short term solution. He's built for this type of situation. The high energy message gets old after a while which is where the problem of hiring O as a permanent HC lies.

Other power 5 programs aren't beating down his door. You can either hope O would do a good job going forward or quit screwing around and make a home run hire.

He is a D-line coach that's holding the title of interim HC

He seems to have learned from his previous HC experience, and realizes he has elite coaches around him to handle the day to day coaching and game plans. If he only loses 1 or 2 games, he's choice #3 behind Jimbo and Herman.

Holy frick, you'd hire him after losing 2 games??

NOONE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY IS GONNA HIRE HIM AS A HC, WHY WOULD A TOP FLIGHT JOB AT LSU DO IT?

Why in the hell do people think O can go toe-to-toe with X's & O's and overall strategy/adjustments against the best coaches in the SEC?

Oh but he's from Louisiana and everyone loves him and he talks like he dropped out in 2nd grade. Wonderful.

Ed Orgeron will not get this job if he doesn't have a ton of success over the rest of the year. His ability to compete with the best coaches in the SEC will be seen the rest of the year.

You guys put way too much emphasis on the ability to call plays. You think you have to be some master coordinator to be a successful head coach. Not the case at all. If you can hire great assistants and let them do their job, you can still be successful.

And if/when that decline doesn't happen and LSU does great under O, I hope you don't enjoy it for one second. Stupid reactionary, emotional fans. He's coached 1 game under us and you already know he would do awful here.

So after a while, every team becomes low energy? That's what we need is low energy? How do you know it would ever be low energy under O?

And who gives a damn what other teams are doing? Why don't you ask USC fans now about if they should have kept O.

If Jimbo and Herman say no, O loses 1 or 2 and the team looks good, probably. He'll keep Aranda, make him either promote Craig or go out and get a hot OC. He's learned to stay out of the way after his time at Ole Miss. But, it will all play out. Jimbo is my #1.

If Herman and Jimbo say no, I'd rather give Coach O a 1 year contract and see what he can do vs hire somebody like Larry Fedora to a 5 year deal and realize he's terrible.

If your top candidates aren't available I don't see the harm in hiring him for one year to see what he can do.
