Says how much respect Pitt has for him and respect he has for his players. Great guy it seems.

I agree. Despite what that other dude said, this is very unusual.

Bo stayed on at LSU, Kiffin is staying on at Bama.

It's not unusual, I think you can find enough cases going either way.

Pelini stayed on because LSU was playing the the BCS NCG. And Alabama is in the playoffs. Pitt is playing in the prestigious New Era Pinstripe Bowl. Kind of different situation than staying on when national title is on the line.

I'm all for Canada staying on for the bowl game. Think its a classy move by him to finish the job this season and shows he's well respected by Pitt for them to keep him for the bowl game. But I still think its unusual. I can't think of any other situations where it was already announced that a coach was leaving for another school but still stayed on to coach in a 2nd-3rd tier bowl game.

I don't either from an LSU standpoint. But I am shocked Pitt wants him to stick around. I think that says a lot about him, because this is very unusual
From what I've read, Canada and Narduzzi are good friends, so thats probably why he's staying for the bowl

Could this mean that have actually had Canada as our number 1 for awhile as O said we wouldn't get a OC before the bowl game? I know we all thought it was because of Kiffin and the playoffs, but maybe, just maybe, we had targeted Canada for awhile and this isn't just a knee jerk reaction to please the masses after the Kiffin to FAU news

Don't be so foolish! Didn't you know that Coach O is just a big dumb Cajun who had only one OC in mind in Kiffin and had absolutely no backup plan beyond that? And that he referred to this board in a panic to figure out where to go next because he's just too stupid to figure these things out?

Sounds like you need to spend more time reading the infinitely wise posts of the select few sage posters on here who know the truth and are ever so willing to spout it.

2 things; 1. He isnt installing a new offense in a dozen Bowl Practices. No reason for him to be here. 2. This is no different than giving a 2 weeks notice in a real job. It shows respect and I think its noteworthy that hes doing it.

Much better transition than the way fat Chavis did us a couple years ago.

Sure, he wouldn't be installing anything or even doing any coaching with the players. But just being at practice and watching the returning players (especially the QBs) would be beneficial for next year. Go ahead and develop relationships with the players & staff.
