Can LSU Afford To Wait Until The End Of December To Name Canada As OC?

Provided that Canada is their man, of course. It seems that LSU needs to make up an awful lot of ground in the recruiting game and in that respect they are unable to do so until they have their OC, correct?

It seems that LSU has conducted some of the longest coaching searches this year. Can they even name Canada as OC before Pittsburgh's bowl game? Does that violate his contract with Pittsburgh? What are the rules and protocol in this situation? If LSU can name Canada as OC before Pittsburgh's bowl game then they need to hurry up and do so, if he is their man and such a move is permissible.

Is it dead period yet?

If not, he needs to call Akers and Brennan TONIGHT.

Where did anyone say they were eating until the end of December?

I must have missed it.

Can it be announced that Canada will be OC at LSU and that he will assume his duties there immediately after Pittsburgh's bowl game? A little certainty and finality to the situation could help.

It's not uncommon for a coach to work both jobs during December.

No they can't afford it. We need to name our OC ASAP so we can get Akers on board. We need that dude so bad. When Guice is gone we may be in trouble regarding runningbacks.

They didn't as far as I know. I am simply asking questions and inquiring as to how this might play out.

He probably has to execute whatever buyout language is in his contract with Pitt... then sign the LSU deal a minute later.

LSU has already been hurt significantly in recruiting bc of not having an OC so I cant see any reason not to name Canada if he took the job.

But who know there have already been a number of questionable decision so far.

If Canada is hired, I'm betting at the presser that he will have a loud and clear, very "indirect" direct message for the QB recruits in particular. I would also expect very publicized interviews in which he will be able to lay out his plans to the offensive recruits during the dead period, without actually having contact with them. These coaches know how to work this.
