Butch Davis supposedly in line for an interview at UT...

I for one am a huge fan of Butch Davis...Guy can recruit and coach and he was cleared my the NCAA of the wrong doing at North Carolina...Anybody else on the Butch Davis train?

No...too much smoke around the guy. Seems like there's always trouble in some form or fashion.

Davis was/is my #1 choice at Auburn. Recruiting is nothing without the ability to scout.(see Eugene Chizik) Davis can scout with the best of them. He is one of the few that could build a program that can compete with Saban.

Paysites say Butch wants the job and he's putting a staff together but we won't interview him due to the NCAA stuff.

Butch Davis ain't worth the hassle. Yet another brilliant coach who goes 9-4 every year and leaves NCAA sanctions in his wake. He can recruit, sure. But I doubt his ability to turn those recruiting rankings into Ws. UTk has a unique recruiting issue, so he might be the best guy they can get, but he sure doesn't scare me as an LSU fan

Do not want. With all the bullshite NCAA speculation we've had to put up with, can you imagine how much worse its be with Butch Davis at the helm?

Good hire except for the NCAA stuff. Rumor is that is the job he wants.

We're still under NCAA Sanctions. I want him as far from Knoxville as possible. That's just asking for trouble with the NCAA. Even if he runs a clean program at UT, the NCAA will jump at any chance to sniff around and bring negative attention.

One of them knows Butch personally... great person
