I don't know a great deal about OL technique and such, but based on previous experience, i'm happy with this hire.

Welcome coach Grimes!

Considering we had Stud, it's a HR in my book IMO.
Sec experience and a good recruiter.

I wonder if he will bring Ryan Pugh with him?

Based on the interview he did when he took the VT job, he doesn't sound super thrilled with being a recruiter but recognizes it's necessary. I'd say that alone keeps it from being a home run hire.

On the other hand, he sounds like a great teacher of O line technique and concepts. LSU has had talented linemen. They've just needed better technique.

I'm excited about fresh blood. His recruiting for 2015 will be interesting to follow. I think there's no doubt our line will improve though.

At auburn, he was the lead recruiter in signing like five overall top-100 offensive line recruits from outside the state of Alabama.

Yeah everything I'm reading says the opposite of what I stated. Better recruiter then coach. What do I know?

We'll find out soon enough. Definitely seems like a very intelligent guy based on the interview I watched

Good hire not great. Looks like he pretty much just sticks to recruiting O.line according to 24/7.

seems to be consensus from those familiar with him.

Where's he rank as a recruiter?

Trooper/Orgeron/Damien Craig being a 10

He's good at recruiting but I wouldn't say he's elite good.

for OLs, he's very good... he's a pretty good OL evaluator as well... our two guards this season were not exactly 4/5 star studs when Grimes recruited them.

Yeah looking at his history on Rivals, he got multiple four star OL to Auburn every single year.

We're lucky if Stud can get one recruit a year period. He's definitely an elite OLine recruiter. Outside of his position however, he's seemingly non existent.
