A lot of "if Coach X keeps Aranda" talk misses point

If the coach you hire is not named Herman and he's at Texas, then you have competition for Aranda. Herman will make a play to have him join him at Texas.
Also, a coach like Jimbo doesn't want to be told he "has" to keep certain coaches instead of hiring who he wants (even tho it's a given that Aranda is a GREAT coach).

Who knows how this turns out. We could end up with a great hire or a total numb nut. Given the way last year went after the ATM game, I am leaning towards us getting stuck with someone that no one wants.

I think Aranda is gone. He came over for Miles and now Miles is gone pecan. I really want Herman and think Aranda could pull him here if there is interest. Our admin appears right now to be getting in their own way sadly.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if Aranda left. I know Texas has deep pockets, but has any program ever paid $1.375 million buyout for an ASSISTANT coach? It would be pretty unprecedented.

Aranda was put in place for the next LSU HC IMO... this has all been in the works for a while.

It was reported today that LSU officials have come out and said that they will go to great lengths to keep Aranda on staff and do whatever is necessary. I know that's what is expected but it's nice to hear them say it.

Well it's pretty much been stated on multiple sites that Jimbo and Herman would retain Aranda, so the Bama fan doesn't know shite imo.
