I like Kiffin as an OC but if he's only going to be here for a year why even bother? Seems counterproductive to install a new offense only to have to reinvent the wheel one year later.

Etling, Guice, probably Chark and Dupre. That's why.

this is such a lazy argument. there are really good hires out there that will be here 3+ years. Helfrich, Gilbert, Baby Briles.

Kiffin and Riley are both ready to be HCs, 2 years max out of either.

Need a,plan

The hire needs to right...

Lane is short term...

Based on that post earlier by Tiger lawyer it seems O is really hoping for lane to come.. but that doesn't sound likely I think we need to look at art briles...

Not saying hire Ensminger just don't hire Kiffin. There are other candidates equally as qualified who would stay longer and we wouldn't have to go through this again next year.

Kiffin isn't my first choice but this is a strange argument. If lsu OC is the springboard to the HC job he really wants, then it's because he was really successful and made LSU offensively very good.

I have the same thought. I do not doubt the ability of Kiffin as an OC but worry about his commitment level. Even if Kiffin ends up with taking the OC position at LSU, the situation going on right now will repeat every year after regular season. It certainly is a distraction to the team and the recruits may be worried about uncertainty at OC position.

It is less a problem if the head coach himself is an offensive guru because he can hire young and upcoming coach and have inputs on offense. However in our case the head coach knows little to none about offense and extremely depends on a competent OC to run it on his own, thus the better choice would be a coach that will not jump on the first head coach opening, just like Aranda.

coming from egg, im sure of it too. but a mind-numbing amount of people create that type of argument in a serious manner. mostly the same people who championed O.

I don't think many others caught the sarcasm, but I did

ETA in regards to OP:

I think the only thing that scares me about 1 and done OCs is becoming a revolving door. I want Kiffin, he's an a-hole, but at least he'd be our a-hole rather than ripping us a new a-hole every year. I know he'll be gone in a year or two, but at least we'd be badass for that year or two. The problem comes after Kiffin. Eventually, changing offenses every few years is going to catch up to the program and it's going to become increasingly more difficult to be successful on that side of the ball. Stability is an important thing in a football office.

I imagine Coach O will be one and done. Two and done max.

I'm going to laugh when O actually succeeds at LSU.

He's been thought a lot but I don't think any 1 and done coaches. Most seem to have a 2-3 year tenure.

Point being, no OC or DC is guaranteed to be anywhere for more than a year. Aranda could have been gone this year. So we should hire shite coordinators nobody would try to hire?

I agree, we don't need to go after the big names. Why not just get the coach that wants to be here the most? Ensminger should get just as much credit as Coach O does.
