Something like the head coach of NDSU. All they do is win championships all be it at a lower level but would the head coach of NDSU who came up as a defensive coordinator ever think of being the DC at LSU as a step up on the career ladder? I don't even know what a job like that pays compared to the DC job at LSU but it's a solid resume.

20/20 did a story on him recently. He's been offered head coaching jobs at Div I programs and he's told all of them he's not going to leave what he's doing.

DO you like being a big fish in a little pond or a little fish in a big pond?

I think He likes being the King fish and good for him!

Most people let their egos get in the way and often trade a good gig for one that does not work out.

Really? That link came right off their Football website and he just took that job within the last couple of years. Did he just accept the Wyoming job?

Some coaches are just HC material, while others are not. From my observation it is not about coaching but dealing with all the other aspects. He may not want to be an assistant, no matter what the pay. Yes, DC at LSU pays far more than a HC in a small school. Does that make them worse coaches? I don't think so.Coaches just have big egos. Got to have that confidence. Learning to be a HC takes a long time. Jimbo Fisher was a fast learn, but I think he made some mistakes with his mouth. Learning to be a DC is hard, too. Getting experience in a smaller school is the way to go.
