I don't think it'd be a bad promotion at all. It could allow for Coach O to come aboard as well. He's been a DC, he played for and coached with Chavis, so he knows the defense, he develops talent well ... it's obviously not Muschamp or Chizik but I don't see why everyone seems down on Brick.

Only reason I'm skeptical is the Mallveto incident, but this isn't quite the same IMO.

Brick is a Chavis disciple

If you thought 3rd and Chavis was bad go look at Bricks stats as a DC at Baylor.

He should not be considered for the role at all

No hate. It's just a job that a program like LSU shouldn't give to someone without a proven record of success in the position.

His previous DC experience was not a success.

He DOES NOT develop talent well. I would move him to LBs and hire Bebe for the DL.

People are tired of Chavis' passive-agressive defense. We need to return the blitz to Tiger Stadium.

The negative reaction is due to his inexperience.

LSU is too prestigious a program to not hire someone of a higher caliber.

The obvious answer is that Miles isn't a defensive coach. Therefore, all of his success at LSU has been in a situation where the DC had total control and ran the defense.

And, with that in mind, you probably want to hire a DC who has been successful and whose experience points to a likelihood of success at LSU.

Not a good record in his one stint as a DC many years ago.

We have a chance at getting a better candidate.

Some are concerned with our lack of ability to rush the QB.

Some want some new blood in the staff.

Maybe the players he had were just bad at it.

The mental midgets see him as the one blocking the Big O from jumping on board.

He was a terrible DC and position coach promotions in the same coaching group are usually no good. His group was already underachieving as is.

Just prefer someone with better success as a coordinator

I think its pretty damn unfair to hold his stint at Baylor when Kevin Steele was the HC against him.

They weren't putting money into facilities back then at all.

Unfortunate for him that when he was DC his HC was a petrified dog turd.

That's definitely fair. A proven track record is important.

But also, when has Baylor ever been good at defense?

It's strange. Heard a guy today with 16 years NFL experience and about to be elected to the HOF say it would be a great choice.

But what would Kevin Mawae know?

No hate for Brick.

But I am nervous about Miles making another promotion. His last few haven't gone so well (Studrawa, Peveto, Mallory).

cool

.

He's been a DC,

It was a total failure and he hasn't gotten a look as a DC since. Miss St has had 2 chances to hire him as DC...and passed. Mississippi St.....

Oh yeah

he develops talent well

very, very debatable

Its probably an even worse move.

He was a DC 15 years ago....who knows how he'd be now. Might be great but I wasn't really wild about Chavis all the time. If he runs the same thing its kinda meh. Would be good to get Ogre but that's no guarantee either.

(I think it was) since 2001, we've only had three seasons with less than 30 sacks. 2 of those came under Brick. This year we had under 20! which hasn't happened since 2000
And one DL recruit for 2015?
I don't think anyone is "hating" on him, but those numbers should prompt consideration of termination, not promotion to arguably the second most important position on staff.
