What the silence may be telling us on DC search

The absolute silence---as I see it
1. We are waiting on a particular person
2. We have hit rock bottom and have no real lead
3. We may be going the Brick path and Aleva knows the unpopular reaction that this will bring--- therefore do not announce until you have to.
4. There is a steal candidate that will shock us all
5. There is serious internal discussion between LSU Administration, Aleva and CLM-about the path to follow.
I am leaning toward 5

In my dreams, but sadly no.

Should have happened already.

I'd like to think no, but I'm not as sure as I once was.

Doubt it.

Probably.

Looks to me LM only wants to bring in a yes man. He must be having a difficult time finding the right fit. With Chavis leaving to go to a SEC rival like he did tells me he and LM must have butted heads on several occasions solely dealing with the offense not keeping his defense off the field. Brace yourself I'm sure the next hire will be from within or a close friend of LM.

Why do you say that?

We've got a mystic posting here now.

6. It's the final stages of recruiting season so potential candidates want to use discretion. Duh.

Well if you just had the worst year at work and you need to hire help would you hire someone to agrees with your philosophy or someone you wants things done their own way and challenge you for your position? Pretty simple to figure this out.

1. Maybe but I doubt it.
2. Doubt this too.
3. Makes no sense. He has to announce it at some point. The longer he waits, the worse the reaction will be.
4. That would be nice but I'm not counting on it.
5. It appears that they are taking a committee-based approach. Les doesn't have full freedom to hire whomever he wants.
or
6. They're being very deliberate to try to get it right. [I hope this is the real reason.]

I think it's a lot more simple. First I think Les and LSU after the first few days started to try to control sources talking.
Before that when the search first started Les reached out and his agent reached out to several folks.
The more folks you talk to the more likely info is to get out.
As the field narrows there are less people that can be "sources".
My take is Les is trying to keep into close and there are less people involved now.

#6 La Tech has to fill their DC before we do.

They are certainly playing it close to the vest, no doubt about that.

So what is Mile's defensive philosophy that would make it difficult to find a coach that "agrees" with him?
Has he been wanting to call defensive plays in addition to calling all of the offensive plays (you know the ones that didn't work)?
Has he secretly wanted to run a 3-3-5? The old Buddy Ryan 46? And Chavis left because he wouldn't?

Hard to figure something out that doesn't make any sense.

Do you just spew crap to see what sticks?
quote:By all accounts, CLM is very hands off when it comes to the defense. Perhaps he's trying to find the best candidate that will keep the opponents from scoring points.
Looks to me LM only wants to bring in a yes man.

We have some seriously impatient people here
Imagine how bad it will be when we have to replace the HC in the next 5-8 years

I trust Miles in hiring the right guy. I don't trust Alleva to let him do it if he's got Miles on a short leash.
If Alleva mucks this up, his head will be first on the chopping block before Miles' IMO.

Number five may have happened relative to the importance of this hire.
I believe Miles knows how important this hire is to his career and the program. I believe that this search is going to end with a great DC.
