Ouch! Gloves are off up in here.

FWIW, I spoke to Saban momentarily at a charity event almost 2 years ago, and I asked his thoughts in the Longhorn Network. Simply put, he hates it. He said that he would never commit to a job that demanded so many hours spent on the network, nor the in-depth analyses that the UT head coach has to perform on the air. He also said many anti-media coaches wouldn't go to UT for the same reason.
TL;DR version: Saban won't go to UT.

I think that's been overlooked.
I think most coaches, not just Saban, do not find that aspect of the job appealing.

I think that's a detail that Saban could hash out in about 20 seconds of negotiations. No way UT would let something like that keep him off campus.

Are they not contractually obligated by the TV deal?

He said UT put themselves in a bind that they didn't see coming. Now no matter what, the UT head coach job regardless of who it is, is contractually obligated to work for the Longhorn Sports Network.

Mack Brown has 2 shows on the LHN: Film Room and Longhorn Weekly. All Nick has to put in his contract is he's doing 1 coaches show a week and let an assistant do the Film Room show. Problem solves.

Is it not required to be the head coach?
Plus, aren't the cameras around at all the practices and what not?
Longhorn Legends: A roundtable discussion program with football coach Mack Brown and a rotating selection of former players.
Rewind with Mack Brown: A Monday broadcast program featuring analysis from the football coach of the past weekend's game
Game Plan with Mack Brown: A Thursday night preview show to the upcoming weekend's football game.
Looks like 3 according to Wiki.

The network has been around for 3 years and every year they've tweaked the access. They no longer film the 1st 30 minutes of practice. Now he only has 2 shows.
Eta: Just checked my guide. 2 shows came up for the next few weeks. Film Room and Game Plan with Mack Brown. Longhorn Weekly is his radio show.

wouldn't be any more than the ESPN Bama suckfest he has to do now

Ah jeeze, you think this has not been addressed? Winning is what the LHN needs more than any personality. Agreements can be altered. Do you think that ESPN doesn't know this?

My favorite posts are the ones by LSU fans psychoanalyzing Saban and acting like their fans are the only ones who know what makes him tick.
He's been at Alabama almost twice as long as he was at LSU. I think Alabama fans have a good handle on what Saban is like.
I, personally think this is all for nothing because I'm not convinced Mack Brown is out of a job yet
My favorite posts are the ones from dumb fricking gumps who are in denial and bash another schools fanbase because of their own insecurities concerning their coach.

I like how defensive LSU fans get over Bama fans being defensive.

Lsu1999-2004----6 years
Ala-2007-2013----7 years
Yeah twice as long. Gotta love that Alabama math.

Fascinating Video: Saban to Bama
When Saban left us for Miami it didn't really hurt as bad as him going to Bama. The NFL rumors got old in Baton Rouge and every year someone was trying to poach him or leverage his name. Bama has been lucky in this regard because Saban isn't going back to the NFL. The league changed a lot between his last stint, to the Miami gig but specifically he didn't like the way the players responded to coaches.

That will be the #1 thing going against Texas. Sure a coach wants attention on his program for recruiting and such. But the level of access the Longhorn network demands is ridiculous.

Agreed. Hell Mack is as big of a huckster politician as they come and even he has been outspoken about how it's an enormous pain in the arse.
People have no clue if they ever thought Saban was going to go spend hours a day doing LHN TV spots, yucking it up with ESPN castoff anchors and talking strategy, not to mention having to allow them unparalleled access to his program.
