Louisville just doesn't have the pull to bring in guys that can compete with others in the BE. It's a basketball school. Their stadium is named after Papa John

Man I don't get the Kragthopre histeria....please don't let him come here as coordinator. Surely we can do better than him? Did any of you watch Louisville the last few years? Wow.

Agreed. After doing some research, LSU can do better.

Sounds like Tolbert would be a great hire, but it seems like he could get another NFL job fairly easily. I would assume that WR coaches make quite a bit more in the NFL than in the SEC.

running off players bc they're thugs, ok

ok, and these werent his players

He mis-evaluated players, that's on him.

you act as if its easy to nail every juco recruit you bring in

His team was terrible, you said it yourself, that's on him

LOL

how is it on him when he cant even field a full roster without walkons and jucos bc he had to kick off bobbys thugs
quote:

I don't like hiring a guy you have to make all these excuses for.

i wouldnt want to do that either, but i know a little more about what went down, and i know it was a shitty situation from the get go and he was never a good fit.

and still, you are totally dismissing his offense when he had good players. hes here to coach qbs and call plays, hes not here to be a major recruiter or coach defense.

but I'm not sold on him as the best that LSU could attract.

How about you suggest another name rather than simply complaining about this one.

Who is it that you like better?

Even more so than that, Kragthorpe never fully utilized the talent on his team. For example, in 2007, instead of using 6-foot-6 receiver Mario Urrutia as a vertical threat as Petrino had, Kragthorpe's offense often called plays for Urrutia to go over the middle or catch screen passes. An unhappy Urrutia wound up leaving after the season as a junior.

mario urrutia was a POS who was alledgedly involved in a point shaving scandal. after you heard about it, and you watched the games, you were like, wow, i could seriously see that

if he was so good, where is he now?
quote:

Kragthorpe had three different offensive coordinators and four different defensive playcallers during his tenure. His teams often looked disjointed on the field, repeatedly burning timeouts in confusion early in games or lining up in the wrong formations. Kragthorpe's calls on third and fourth downs prompted a lot of head-scratching.

kragthorpe was forced to keep the dc from bobby p. he finally fired him, and hired ron english, a great hire. ron english took a head coaching job, making him bring in the next guy

just bc something says that he kept bringing in new coaches doesnt mean shite when you dont have a clue as to why they left
quote:

Perhaps the most damning evidence against Kragthorpe is this: He took over offensive coordinator duties this year, and the team averaged 18.5 points per game, worst in the Big East and the fewest by a Louisville team since 2006. Though he came to town with the reputation as a bright offensive mind, his offenses lacked imagination and paled in comparison to his predecessor.

and like i said, this team is pathetic. hell, im not even sure that krag didnt even give a shite anymore after the first couple of games when he knew he was gone. his family was treated like absolute shite, and im sure he couldnt have cared less how it ended up

i said that a lot of the bad shite wasnt anything under his control

now he definitely could have been fine with having thugs, and kept rolling along, but he is apparently a huge christian dude and wanted to do it the "right way"

this was his undoing

even the best coaches arent going to succeed with absolute dogshit talent

But they can show improvement...the offense got worse, a lot worse, each and every year. The talent he left at Tulsa got better each year..so the OC after him did better with the same talent he had. He may be getting a bad rap, but there are better candidates out there.

Yes he could. His wife is from La. Many coaches want to be near family once the parents start getting up in age, remember Stacy Searels leaving for UGA to be closer to his family?

I know another coach that passed up the NFL many times to stay in college. I know of one that took a cut in pay from a Pro job, he even had a buyout he had to payoff.

LSU is one of the better paying jobs in the nation. The average Salary of NFL Assistant Coaches, $150K-450K FYI.

Remember Dunbar, Brick and many others got back into college coaching from the NFL. Some rather college.

Every coach has his reasons. Remember Pete Jenkins?

Some coaches I know will tell me all the time, "LSU was one of the better jobs I have ever had."
