That is what I saw as well. DBs in position to make plays and they just didn't

yep. they were lost... couple that with all of the offensive turnovers by the clemson offense and the special teams TD's... and well... 70 points isn't that absurd.

My memory of watching that game was how fast it got out of control. It went from an almost tied ball game in the 2nd quarter with Clemson about to score and have the lead to WVU taking back a 99-yard fumble return and the next thing you know it was 49-20 at halftime and the game was over.

It was almost a mirror image of Super Bowl XXII where the Broncos went from leading 10-0 in the 1st quarter and then were down 35-10 at halftime.

yea, geno smith was a yardage machine. every coach lays an egg sometimes and both chavis and steele laid them against smith and co. the difference was that LSU's offense bailed chavis out.

That may be one of the only times that phrase has ever been typed.

The difference was Mathieu doing things that only Mathieu does: he takes what he wants

The players said he broke down and started calling plays from his Carolina Panthers days. They were a bit confused.

Is that 2014 LSU vs. AUBURN?

Other than the points scored, is that much of a difference?

I can't get past how horrible Steele was as a HC. Worst HC in B12 history.

I don't think it was a good hire. Ed Orgeron was a great addition and a necessity. Keeping Raymond was huge also. I suspect LSU will still have good defenses but not as good as they have been.

Time for the offense to step up. Which I expect to happen as long as Fournette is vertical and ventilating.

So yes, Chavis gave up a shitton of yards to Geno Smith too. Difference was turnovers and special teams.

Difference was talent. We had some beasts on the defense. Clemson lost most of their DB starters from the year before.

Pendergast and Orgeron gave up 62 to Arizona St. It happens a good bit in current times.

In 2010 Steele and Clemson went to Auburn and held Cam Newton and crew to 424 yards. Auburn pretty much dominated our defense that year, they arguably took it easy on us in the 4th quarter.
